Standard Job Description

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join our team and support the development of our custom microservice pipeline architecture. In this role, you will use solid C++ design principles to maintain and improve a system built for high-rate data processing. You will connect this pipeline with AWS SNS and SQS for messaging, and work alongside code optimized for GPUs and CUDA.

Key Responsibilities

  • C++ Pipeline Development: Use clean C++ design principles to write readable, maintainable, and efficient code for our data pipelines.
  • Microservice Integration: Work with pipeline design for microservices, helping data flow smoothly between different components.
  • Cloud Messaging: Experience with cloud infrastructure using AWS SNS and SQS to handle decoupled messaging.
  • Learn GPU Computing: Dive into a codebase that processes high-rate data using GPUs and CUDA, learning how to maintain and adapt this specialized code over time.
  • Flow Monitoring: Keep the system healthy by implementing and using metrics to track data flow and identify bottlenecks.
Basic Qualifications

•    Experience: 2+ years of professional software engineering experience using C++ and Python.
•    C++ Foundations: Strong working knowledge of modern C++ (C++11/17) with a solid grasp of memory management, object-oriented design, and clean code principles.
•    AWS Messaging: Practical experience using AWS SNS and SQS for basic queue management and pub/sub messaging patterns.
•    Growth Mindset: A strong, proven motivation to learn. You are comfortable jumping into a new codebase, asking questions, and expanding your technical toolkit.
•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Desired Skills
  • GPU Exposure: Basic familiarity or academic exposure to GPU computing or CUDA code
  • Pipeline Telemetry: Experience implementing flow monitoring, application logging, or performance metrics tracking.
  • Advanced Python: Experience writing Python for automation scripting, data orchestration, or backend pipeline components.
