Software Engineer
We are looking for eager Software Engineers excited to dive in and help build and support the cutting edge technology systems of the Lending Platform teams. SoFi is trying to push the boundaries of lending and provide next-level products for our members and investors, and we are seeking anyone with big ideas and a drive to help achieve our goals.
As a software engineer, you will be part of a team that is empowered to make technical decisions that have direct impact on the success of the business. You will be in the middle of it all – working with partner teams in Lending Engineering and Data Science, implementing new functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, delivering scalable and highly-available services, supporting data pipelines, and continually growing as an engineer. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker.
At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design, and Engineering and so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring, supporting, and continual improvements and evolution of mission-critical systems. You’ll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way, as well as using your areas of expertise to grow the capabilities of the rest of the team.
What You’ll Do:
- Use different object-oriented programming languages to build performant and scalable applications in a cloud-based microservice architecture
- Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product
- Own technical solutions for new product requirements
- Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product management, operations, and peer technical teams to focus on delivering impactful products
- Mentoring other members of the team and helping foster a learning environment within the team across multiple offices
- Work in our core stack: Java, Kotlin, Microservices, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, PostgreSQL and MongoDB
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree, in a technical field
- 2+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern, microservice stack
- Our core stack is: Java, Kotlin, Microservices, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Snowflake. Expertise with any modern Java frameworks, REST APIs, and SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership; driving a project from inception to completion
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
- Experience working in a team coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing requests
- Passionate about broadening your technical skill set, trying out new ideas, and teaching others
- Effective communication and ability to work independently with limited support or supervision
- Desire to grow, learn, and collaborate with a team of engineers
Nice to Have:
- Full-stack engineering experience, or willingness to expand your skills across our entire stack
- Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, python, React, JavaScript, cloud infrastructure, DBT, Airflow, Terraform and CI/CD
- Experience with cloud native services, especially AWS services such as Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, S3 and/or Athena
- Fintech/finance experience
- Experience solving data-heavy problems such as designing/building a data pipeline
