About NewWorld:

NewWorld is an award‑winning next‑generation media company operating at the intersection of culture, storytelling, and rapid response. Our stories, shows and campaigns meet audiences at the speed of culture, shining a light on the world as it is, while inspiring courage and confidence to change it. Our team combines cultural intelligence, creative storytelling and strategic intervention to build trust, shape narratives, and move people from outrage to optimism– and from optimism to action.

About the role:

We are building a community of freelance Producer/Directors to draw from as new series go into production.

As a Social Series Producer/Director, you are responsible for bringing a show to life. Concepts come from our team, your job is to build from that foundation: developing scripts, casting talent, organizing logistics, leading crew, directing on set, and driving the edit until a fully realized series of episodes is ready to post. This is a highly collaborative role with frequent touchpoints and real input at every stage. You thrive with creative guardrails, not despite them.

This is an evergreen posting: we review submissions on an ongoing basis and reach out when a project matches your profile. This position is fully remote within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Refine incoming concepts into producible, platform-native series with clear creative vision and structural logic
  • Lead scripting and story development, including outlines, run-of-show documents, and episode-level scripts or frameworks
  • Cast on-camera talent suited to short-form social; on-camera charisma, credibility, and audience fit matter as much as credentials
  • Build and manage production crews scaled appropriately to the format and budget
  • Organize all logistics: scheduling, locations, permitting, production planning, and day-of execution
  • Direct on set with a clear point of view while staying adaptive to real-world conditions
  • Lead post-production: guide the edit, give clear and actionable feedback, and drive the cut to lock
  • Deliver finalized episodes ready to post, formatted, captioned, and platform-optimized
  • Collaborate closely with the internal team throughout, incorporating feedback across development, production, and post
  • Participate in client-facing conversations when the project requires it, representing the creative process with clarity and confidence

Qualifications & Qualities:

Successful candidates will have all of the following:

  • Proven experience producing and directing high-visibility original series or viral content for Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube
  • Comfort owning the full production pipeline with minimal hand-holding; you know what needs to happen and you make it happen
  • Strong instincts for short-form storytelling: pacing, structure, hooks, and what keeps an audience watching
  • Experience building and leading lean crews and managing production logistics end to end
  • Editorial sensibility; you can direct an edit, not just review one
  • Collaborative by default, ego-light, responsive to feedback and able to integrate it without losing your point of view
  • Ability to move quickly without sacrificing quality

Preferred additional qualifications:

Few candidates will bring all of these strengths, and none are strictly required; experience in the following areas would be an additional asset.

  • Experience with content targeting working-class, non-coastal, or underserved audiences
  • Familiarity with client-facing production environments
  • Experience across multiple platforms or content formats simultaneously

Compensation is competitive and project-dependent.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Equity is at the heart of NewWorld. From the clients we partner with and vendors we engage, to the team we’re building, we are committed to creating opportunities for the diverse community of talented, creative professionals who have been systematically denied opportunities across the professional communications industry. Women, people of color, LGBTI people, people of any religion or nationality and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Opportunities for advancement exist, and NewWorld is committed to helping all staff develop and grow.
