Position Summary

With limited supervision, the Social Media Strategist develops and executes content‑led social media strategies for National University and its affiliates, with a strong emphasis on content planning, community and reputation management, and short‑form video storytelling. This role translates institutional priorities into platform‑specific content strategies, leads day‑to‑day content execution, and partners closely with the Social Media Marketing Manager and cross‑functional teams to engage audiences and strengthen brand trust. Produce and report metrics on the success of social media channels and makes data-informed recommendations for optimization. Responsible for day-to-day boosting budget for organic social posts across multiple platforms.  

Essential Functions:  

  • Develop platform‑specific content strategies that support recruitment, engagement, and brand reputation goals.  

  • Design and execute social media content to achieve marketing objectives, including creating, managing, and publishing high‑quality original content across platforms.  

  • Write and edit social media copy and produce short‑form video content for Reels, Shorts, TikTok, and emerging platforms.  

  • Lead community and reputation management, including moderation best practices, response frameworks, and issue identification.  

  • Maintain and update moderation templates and guidance aligned with brand voice, escalation protocols, and compliance standards.  

  • Monitor social media performance and KPIs, analyze results, and provide insights to support optimization, testing, and recommendations.  

  • Stay current on platform trends, algorithm changes, and cultural moments to inform content and engagement strategies.  

  • Collaborate with internal marketing and communications partners on campaigns, launches, and priority initiatives.  

  • Assist in developing and maintaining shared content libraries and evergreen resources.  

  • Support monthly budget tracking as assigned.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field preferred 

  • Two (2) years relevant social media experience, preferred;  

  • working knowledge in managing client or stakeholder relations, preferred

  • Ability to work as an active and collaborative team member, contributing to shared goals across the team and organization.  

  • Strong ability to build effective relationships and gain alignment with peers, functional partners, and external stakeholders to accomplish business objectives.  

  • Demonstrated personal accountability, including a commitment to honesty, respect, and proactively addressing challenges or limitations.  

  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically, including developing new insights, questioning conventional approaches, encouraging innovation, and designing or implementing effective programs or processes.  

  • Working knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, and emerging channels.  

  • Ability to create and produce graphic and multimedia content using a range of tools, techniques, and equipment.  

  • Working knowledge of mass media and copyright laws and regulations as they apply to social media, with a commitment to ongoing learning related to trends, developments, and emerging platforms.  

  • Strong communication and consultative skills, including the ability to articulate the value of social media as a tool and identify relevant, newsworthy content for social communities.  

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines and changing priorities, while fostering a cooperative and inclusive team culture. 

Location: Remote, USA 

Travel: Up to 10% Travel required

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency.
