About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an Account Executive, Small & Medium Government (SMG) with a passion for learning, a kind heart, a positive attitude, and a great sense of humor to join our growing team. The SMG AE will manage the end-to-end sales cycle for municipalities, counties, school districts, and special districts—owning the evaluation process from initial engagement through final agreement. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted, consultative partner to local governments, helping them move from manual, legacy workflows to modern, cloud-based solutions for budgeting, financial disclosure and reporting, and community engagement.

You’ll develop and execute a strategic territory plan, lead discovery sessions that uncover meaningful operational challenges, and deliver tailored software demonstrations that clearly show impact on both internal efficiency and community outcomes. Working closely with Business Development, Marketing, and internal cross-functional partners, you’ll drive momentum through multi-stakeholder evaluations, guide committees through procurement requirements, and maintain a disciplined, accurate pipeline in Salesforce.

You’ll build trust-based relationships with Finance Directors, City Managers, and Department Heads, represent ClearGov at regional conferences and government associations, and act as an advocate for innovation in the public sector—while thriving in a fast-paced, remote environment that values collaboration, ownership, and results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle for the Small and Medium Government (SMG) market, taking full ownership of the evaluation process from initial engagement to final agreement.

  • Lead discovery sessions that uncover deep-seated operational challenges and tailor software demonstrations to show measurable impact on community outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with key public sector stakeholders, including Finance Directors, City Managers, and Department Heads.
  • Drive the evaluation process by setting clear expectations, managing stakeholder timelines, and guiding committees through complex procurement requirements.
  • Maintain rigorous data integrity within Salesforce to ensure accurate forecasting and transparent reporting of the sales pipeline.
  • Partner with the Business Development and Marketing teams to develop territory-specific strategies and follow up on leads from industry events and digital campaigns.
  • Represent ClearGov at regional conferences and government associations to serve as a subject matter expert and advocate for local government innovation.
Critical Skills/Experience:
  • 2 to 5 years of quota-carrying experience in software sales, with a documented history of meeting or exceeding performance targets.
  • Proven ability to take control of the sales cycle and drive momentum through multi-stakeholder evaluation processes.

  • A proactive "hunter" mentality coupled with a disciplined approach to managing a high volume of opportunities.
  • Experience navigating public sector procurement and/or other complex purchasing cycles
  • Proficiency in utilizing Salesforce or similar CRM platforms to manage time, tasks, and data with precision.
