What We Do

Halcyon is the industry’s first dedicated, adaptive security platform that combines multiple proprietary advanced prevention engines along with AI models focused specifically on stopping ransomware.

Who We Are

Founded in 2021 by a team of cybersecurity industry veterans, Halcyon was built after years of battling ransomware and advanced threats at some of the largest global security vendors. Our leadership team includes alumni from Cylance (now BlackBerry), Accuvant (now Optiv), FireEye, and ISS X-Force (now IBM). We are focused on delivering innovative products and solutions for mid-market and enterprise customers.

The Role

Halcyon is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Representative (BDR), SLED to join our growing sales team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business opportunities in the State, Local, and Education (SLED) segment, building relationships with prospective clients, and generating leads within the cybersecurity and ransomware protection space. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a proactive approach to sales and a passion for the cybersecurity industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation: Prospect, identify, and qualify potential customers through inbound and outbound prospecting—calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach.

  • Client Engagement: Connect with decision-makers in target organizations to understand their cybersecurity needs, challenges, and pain points, particularly related to ransomware threats.

  • Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to support and execute strategies for lead generation, campaigns, and outreach.

  • Pipeline Management: Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospects and manage lead data within our CRM system.

  • Educate & Qualify: Share relevant information on Halcyon’s ransomware protection solutions and qualify leads for potential fit.

  • Nurturing: Follow up with leads to ensure consistent engagement until they are ready for deeper discussions with an Account Executive.

  • Market Intelligence: Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and ransomware threats to effectively communicate value.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a sales development or business development role, preferably in cybersecurity or technology.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the cybersecurity landscape, especially ransomware threats, is a plus.

  • Experience with CRM and sales systems (e.g., Salesforce, Salesloft, Nooks, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, GovNav, GovWin, Gong).

  • Self-starter who thrives working independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and KPIs.

Benefits

Halcyon offers the following benefits to eligible employees:

  • Comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents.

  • 401(k) plan with a generous employer contribution.

  • Short- and long-term disability coverage, basic life and AD&D insurance.

  • Medical and dependent care FSA options.

  • Flexible PTO policy.

  • Parental leave.

  • Generous equity offering.

The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $50,000–$70,000

In accordance with applicable state and federal laws, the range provided is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity in the Company.

We understand it takes a diverse team of highly intelligent, passionate, curious, and creative people to develop the exceptional product we are building. Our dynamic team has incredible perspectives to share, just as we know you do, and we take great pride in being an equal opportunity employer.
