At StarCompliance, Site Reliability Engineers play a key role in ensuring that our SaaS platform can be safely promoted, operated, and evolved. This role sits within the Platform Engineering organisation and ultimately reports into the Head of Platform Engineering.
We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer who enjoys the challenge of driving the adoption of new processes enabling our software production systems scale and performance and collaborating with Technical Leads and QA to improve how our software is monitored and approved to move through environments. You will be part of high performance team responsible for the creation of the standards and building blocks supporting the deployment of production systems and enabling regular, high-quality releases across our platform estate.
Responsibilities
- Operate and support production systems as part of an on-call and rota-based team.
- Work closely with Technical Leads and QA to support software and database promotion practices that emphasise quality, performance, and stability.
- Implement and maintain observability across services, including dashboards, alerts, and tracing.
- Own, support and improve the production promotion and release process.
- Own the incident response, triage, and resolution activities.
- Assist with post-incident reviews and implementation of improvement actions.
- Work with engineering teams to improve system resilience and operational readiness of their software products.
- Automate operational tasks to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
- Own the creation and maintenance of runbooks and operational documentation intended for consumption by internal, and wider teams.
Skills
- Experience supporting production systems in cloud-hosted environments in Microsoft Azure.
- Professional experience with a modern programming language beneficial.
- Experience working with .NET-based systems is highly beneficial.
- Experience working with Database systems is highly beneficial.
- Experience working with Load Balancers is highly beneficial.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
- Scripting or automation experience is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
- Typically, 4–7 years of experience in SRE, operations, platform, or software engineering roles.
- Experience working with SaaS or distributed systems.
- Willingness to participate in on-call and rota-based support.
