Positron AI is building next-generation AI inference accelerators designed from the ground up for low-latency, high-throughput large language model inference. Our first-generation ASIC, Asimov, is a cutting-edge accelerator targeting frontier AI workloads, with additional generations already underway.
Role OverviewPositron AI is looking for a technical product planning leader to own the definition of our silicon and systems product line, from accelerator architecture through to full rack scale inference systems. This is the person who decides what we build, why we build it, and how we explain that decision to engineering, to our go-to-market teams, and to our customers.
You will write the PRDs that anchor our hardware roadmap, translate customer and market signals into concrete engineering requirements, and maintain the analytical backbone (performance modeling, competitive landscaping, cost and efficiency math) that makes those requirements defensible. The role sits at the intersection of deep silicon detail and cloud scale deployment reality, and it carries real influence over the direction of the product.
Key Responsibilities- Be the leader in Positron for all aspects of Silicon & Systems Technical Product Planning.
- Write PRDs for our inference servers, and inference rack systems spanning silicon architecture, CPU & memory, through to rack scale systems.
- Work with engineering and GTM on communicating a roadmap.
- Work closely with GTM teams to understand customer and market needs.
- Define and manage product lifecycle and SKUs.
- Creative and maintain competitive briefings.
- Work with our key supply chain and technology partners to understand their technologies roadmaps.
- Create scope/feasibility frameworks to convert advanced technology ideas and innovations into tangible engineering requests.
- Ensure our hardware & systems products are well documented.
- Streamline & automate the product planning processes using agentic AI. Scale yourself with agentic AI.
- 10+ years experience with a strong mix of these types of technical skills:
- silicon or systems engineering or architecture (AI accelerator, CPU/GPU, networking, or memory systems), with direct ownership of feature/PPA or architecture trade-offs.
- cloud scale server & computing systems deployments touching on power/cooling envelopes, rack integration, networking, fleet wide telemetry, failure & RMA.
- OEM&ODM needs for reference designs, and compliance and hardware qualification cycles.
- performance analysis spanning silicon & systems: roofline modeling, bandwidth utilization, $/GB and perf/W arithmetic — able to build and defend the math personally.
- AI inference systems competitive landscaping and analysis, either at an AI hardware startup or an incumbent AI hardware systems provider
- 10+ years with a strong mix of these type of personal & analytic skills
- Quick learner with the ability to span low level silicon details upto rack scale systems. Stays current with the AI hardware landscape.
- Excellent communication and people skills ,comfortable navigating uncertainty, and driving a process of idea & decision socialization.
- Comfortable being the most technically grounded person in a GTM room and the most market-aware person in an engineering room
- Owning decision history: be the personification of documented answers to "why did we choose X", and do so with our executive leadership.
- Demonstrated daily, hands-on use of agentic AI in real technical work - building and running agent workflows for research, analysis, and drafting req’s - with the judgment to verify and own everything the agents produce.
While this role is currently posted at a specific level, we are a growth-oriented organization and are open to hiring at a more senior level for the right candidate. Please note that this job description serves as a focused but generalized overview of the role; specific responsibilities and impact expectations will be tailored to the experience and seniority of the final hire.
Why Join Us?- You will shape the definition of a full inference stack, from a frontier-class ASIC through to rack scale systems, at a company where product planning decisions translate directly into silicon and shipped hardware.
- You will work on performance per dollar and performance per watt problems that matter to the economics of AI inference, with the autonomy to set direction rather than inherit it.
The base salary range for this role is $200,000 – $350,000.
