About Mannix Marketing
Mannix Marketing is a digital marketing agency with 30 years of experience (yes, we’re older than Google!) in helping businesses thrive online. We provide comprehensive digital marketing solutions, including website design, SEO, social media marketing, content creation, and paid advertising strategies. Headquartered in Upstate New York and operating as a fully remote team, we pride ourselves on our consultative approach.
About the RoleWe are looking for an SEO AI Specialist to own organic search strategy for our clients, with a specific focus on how search is changing as AI tools reshape how people find information. This is a full-time remote role working across client accounts in industries such as senior living, tourism, manufacturing, and non-profits. You will handle both traditional SEO (technical audits, on-page optimization, keyword strategy) and the newer discipline of optimizing for AI-driven search surfaces like AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. This is not a generalist digital marketing role. We need someone who lives in the technical and analytical side of search, not someone coming from a social media or content-marketing background.
What You’ll Do
Conduct technical SEO audits (site architecture, crawlability, indexation, page speed, structured data) and prioritize fixes by impact.
Develop and execute keyword and content strategy grounded in search intent and competitive analysis.
Optimize client content and site structure for visibility in AI-generated search results, including AI Overviews and LLM-based answer engines.
Implement and troubleshoot schema markup and structured data to improve machine readability of client sites.
Monitor organic performance using Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and SEO platforms (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog), and translate data into clear recommendations.
Stay ahead of how generative AI is changing search behavior and adjust client strategy accordingly.
Build client-facing reports that explain performance and strategy in plain language.
Communicate directly with clients on strategy, progress, and results.
Collaborate with account managers, web development, and content teams to execute cross-functional SEO initiatives.
3+ years of hands-on technical SEO experience, ideally agency-side, managing multiple client accounts at once.
Working knowledge of how AI search tools (AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) surface and rank content, and what that means for optimization strategy.
Fluency with SEO tooling: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and at least one enterprise SEO platform.
Comfortable reading and troubleshooting structured data/schema markup.
Strong analytical skills. This role should be drawn to data, not just creative content work.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for client-facing work.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Must be located within the continental United States.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
We want this to be a place where you can do your best work and feel good about where you work. Here’s what comes with the role:
Health, dental, and vision insurance
Simple IRA with a 3% dollar-for-dollar company match
Paid time off starting at 12 days per year and increasing with tenure, up to 30 days for long-term team members
Flex time available for life appointments and personal needs
9 paid holidays, with the option to swap for a cultural or religious holiday that matters to you
Fully remote, work from wherever you do your best thinking
