The Software Engineering team at Ursa Major has an opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer. In this role, you will directly impact our ability to scale our rocket engine design, test, and manufacturing capabilities. Our team supports these capabilities by designing software systems that optimize the inner loops of critical processes and expose the relationships in our data. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering foundation and a proven history of creating high-quality networked services. You will be a great fit for our team if you have a growth mindset, are tenacious in attacking both problems and opportunities, and are a clear and open communicator.
Responsibilities:
· Work on a small, cross-functional team of Software Engineers and across teams with diverse stakeholders including Propulsion Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers
· Design production systems that meet internal stakeholders' requirements
· Act as technical lead for high-impact software components
· Break large projects into manageable tasks and work with a team to implement them
· Coach and mentor junior team members on Software Engineering best practices
· Assist in task planning and estimation
· Write excellent documentation
Qualifications:
· Engineering/CS degree or equivalent experience
· High proficiency with Python
· High proficiency with Rust or another statically typed, compiled language (like C++) and a desire to learn Rust
· Experience with SQL databases and efficient schema design
· Experience with Linux and shell scripting
· Comfortable with a container-based development workflow
· Understanding of latest industry trends and best practices
· Excellent problem solving, project management, and communication skills
Desired Experience:
· Master's degree in Engineering/CS
· Experience developing software in aerospace or other highly technical field
· Experience with stream processing, event-driven architectures, and time-series data systems
· Experience or interest in applying AI/ML to internal data sets is a plus!
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is Senior Software Engineer $115,000 - $155,000 AND Staff Software Engineer $145,000 - $188,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
