Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results.

Within Yahoo Games, our mission is to make games a natural extension of the daily Yahoo experience—easy to discover, fun to play, and rewarding to return to. We are reimagining Yahoo Games as a modern casual gaming destination with a strong point of view on quality, craft, and player experience.

A Lot About You

We are seeking a talented Senior Visual Designer to create and deliver the visual assets that power discovery, marketing, and platform experiences across Yahoo Games. In this role, you will own the visual design and illustration work that lives outside the game itself - spanning promotional imagery, platform marketing, game website visuals, and supporting assets such as streaks, avatars, leaderboards, and more.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will create high-quality illustration and visual design assets, bring motion design sensibility to platform and marketing experiences, and collaborate closely with Product Design, Product Management, and the Lead Visual Designer to ensure a cohesive and compelling visual presence across the Yahoo Games ecosystem. You may also work alongside the Lead Visual Designer on more ambitious game titles, contributing assets such as icons, illustrations, and supporting visuals as needed.

If you are a strong illustrator and visual storyteller who understands how to make games and gaming experiences feel exciting and discoverable, this role is for you.

Your Day at Yahoo

  • Create high-quality illustrations, promotional images, and visual assets that support game discovery across the Yahoo Games platform and marketing channels.

  • Design and produce supporting game assets such as streak illustrations, avatars, leaderboard visuals, and other platform-level elements.

  • Own the visual design and illustration needs for Yahoo Games web presence, including game websites and platform marketing materials.

  • Explore and experiment with AI-assisted tools to support rapid concepting, visual exploration, and early-stage asset creation.

  • Leverage AI to accelerate prototyping and generate visual variations, helping the team quickly test different stylistic directions.

  • Evaluate emerging AI tools that can improve creative workflows and asset production efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Design, Product Management, and the Lead Visual Designer to ensure visual consistency and quality across the Yahoo Games ecosystem.

  • Apply motion design skills to bring platform and marketing visuals to life, creating excitement and guiding the player's eye to the right places.

  • Support the Lead Visual Designer on game projects as needed — for example, contributing icons, illustrations, and supporting assets when additional capacity is required.

  • Ensure assets are optimized for performance across desktop and mobile web platforms.

You Must Have

  • 4+ years of professional experience as an illustrator, visual designer, or similar role in or around the games industry.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating illustration, visual design, and marketing or promotional asset creation — ideally in a games or entertainment context.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and strong working knowledge of motion design tools.

  • Experience incorporating AI-assisted tools into creative workflows — such as using generative AI for rapid concept exploration, visual ideation, and asset iteration.

  • Motion design skills — experience creating motion graphics that guide attention and create visual excitement across digital platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling visuals that market or promote games, apps, or entertainment products.

  • Familiarity with asset optimization and file preparation for web and digital platforms.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and design.

  • Deep interest in games and a strong point of view on what makes game-adjacent visuals feel polished, approachable, and exciting.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a games studio, games marketing department, or as an illustrator supporting game products.

  • Familiarity with Figma.

  • Familiarity with After Effects for motion design and animated marketing assets.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
