Senior UI Technical Designer | North America | Canada | Europe | Fully Remote
What We are looking for:
We are looking for a Senior Technical UI Designer to join our team, specializing in building and implementing UI systems in-engine with a technical and artistic sensibility. This role bridges the gap between UI art and in-game functionality, ensuring UI concepts translate smoothly into interactive, shippable experiences.
What You Will Do:
- Implement UI elements, menus, widgets, and HUDs directly in Unreal Engine 5 ensuring high-quality presentation and usability.
- Prototype and iterate on UI interactions to refine user experience and optimize responsiveness in-game.
- Work closely with engineers to hook up UI elements to game systems intelligently, ensuring seamless interaction between UI and gameplay mechanics.
- Evaluate and improve UI workflows by suggesting and prototyping tools and pipeline improvements.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, game designers, and engineers to design, test, and refine UI systems and ensure an efficient integration process.
- Contribute to UI animation and motion design, ensuring polished, smooth transitions and feedback mechanisms for players.
- Work alongside both in-house and outsourced artists to bring UI designs from concept to final implementation.
What you will bring:
- Expertise in UI implementation in Unreal Engine 5 (or similar game engines), including Blueprint scripting and working with UI-related systems like UMG.
- Ability to translate static UI concepts into interactive, functional, and shippable assets, maintaining high quality and performance.
- Experience prototyping and refining UI interactions, focusing on fluidity, clarity, and user feedback.
- Experience with animation and motion design for UI elements to enhance engagement and usability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify solutions
- A collaborative and iterative mindset, able to receive feedback and refine designs
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or other UI/UX design tools, with an emphasis on bringing designs into a game engine.
