The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to own and evolve core platform and API capabilities that underpin our products and partner integrations. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, platform stakeholders, and downstream product teams, with primary responsibility for defining platform requirements, shaping API strategy, and ensuring our APIs scale reliably as usage and consumer demand grow. The ideal candidate is deeply technical, API‑literate, and comfortable working hands‑on with engineers to define roadmaps, requirements, and operating metrics. They understand how APIs are designed, documented, consumed, and governed, and they can translate diverse consumer needs into a coherent, prioritized platform strategy.

Location: This position is remote in Denver, CO. We intend to open an office in Denver and once we do, we will require hybrid attendance onsite at least 9 days each month.

Responsibilities:

Platform & API Product Leadership
  • Own the product vision and roadmap for core platform APIs and services, ensuring alignment with company strategy, engineering capacity, and partner needs.
  • Define and evolve API strategies that support current consumers while anticipating future scale, growth, and extensibility.
  • Lead quarterly and multi-year roadmap planning, balancing reliability, performance, developer experience, and delivery velocity.
API Requirements & Documentation
  • Define clear, testable API product requirements in partnership with engineering, including:
    • Functional behavior
    • Performance expectations
    • Backward compatibility standards
  • Ensure API documentation is accurate, complete, and usable for both internal and external consumers.
  • Participate in API design reviews, contributing to:
    • Endpoint design
    • Naming conventions
    • Data contracts
Reliability, Scale & Metrics
  • Partner with engineering to define and track:
    • SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
    • SLOs (Service Level Objectives)
    • Operational KPIs
  • Forecast and monitor API consumer growth, including:
    • Call volumes
    • Usage patterns (MoM, QoQ)
  • Identify scaling risks early and drive proactive product decisions.
Stakeholder & Consumer Enablement
  • Serve as the primary product interface for API consumers:
    • Internal product teams
    • Partners
    • External integrators
  • Gather and prioritize consumer needs based on real usage patterns.
  • Clearly communicate platform decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmap updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Execution & Collaboration
  • Partner closely with engineering, grounding decisions in:
    • System design
    • Data models
    • Technical constraints
  • Actively engage with APIs using tools like Postman or curl to:
    • Validate functionality
    • Support troubleshooting
    • Improve user experience
  • Contribute to domain modeling, including:
    • Entity relationships
    • Data ownership boundaries

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with strong ownership of technical platform or API-driven products
  • Proven experience managing API roadmaps in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • API requirements definition
    • Documentation review
    • API design tradeoffs
  • Experience defining and operationalizing SLAs, SLOs, and reliability metrics
  • Ability to forecast and manage API usage growth and scaling considerations
  • Experience working with diverse API consumer personas and prioritizing competing needs
  • Familiarity with API tools (e.g., Postman, curl)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Domain modeling
    • Entity relationships
    • Data contracts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with regulated platforms (e.g., fintech, financial services, data-sensitive systems)
  • Experience working with:
