We are searching for a Senior Technical Artist to join our core team developing a high-quality AAA single-player story-driven action-adventure game built using the Unreal Engine. The Senior Technical Artist will partner with the Technical Art Director to help shape long-term goals for art and cinematics pipelines including rigging, animation, cinematics, and platform performance ensuring we can deliver projects on time and within performance budgets.
We want to expand our team with someone capable of seeking out and solving cross-disciplinary technical art and content pipeline problems, working inside and outside the engine. You will use your artistic and technical expertise to both create tools for yourself and others as well as take ownership of setting up assets in engine to create an unforgettable cinematic experience. You will identify critical workflow, asset and performance issues and formulate clear, actionable solutions. Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Technical Art Director to design, build, and support content creation, animation, and pipeline tools inside and outside the engine using Python and/or C++.
- Create assets and systems requiring technical art experience in engine (blueprints, material networks, control rig, performance optimization, etc)
- Use your Sequencer and Maya expertise to troubleshoot and problem solve cinematic issues.
- Collaborate with artists, technical artists, engineers, and designers both internal and external to ensure efficient workflows and pipelines.
- Document, maintain, enforce, and provide guidance on asset integrity, conventions, and performance budgets.
- Create and maintain clear, relevant usage documentation for technical art workflows and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional game experience
- Unreal experience with expertise in Sequencer, Blueprints, characters, MetaHumans, Control Rig, LODs, and performance optimization
- Intermediate Python scripting experience creating artist and pipeline tools in Maya and/or Unreal using a Qt framework.
- Proficiency and production experience in modeling, rigging, and animation with an understanding of the full CG pipeline.
- Familiarity with game performance evaluation tools to profile CPU, GPU, and memory performance on multiple target platforms.
- Experience rigging for games or film.
- Intermediate C++ skills with Maya and/or Unreal.
Pluses
The annual salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $120,000 – $130,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors. The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.
