The Senior Systems Engineer will design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems for the Department of Veterans Affairs, ensuring system reliability and security while mentoring junior staff.
Description
PingWind is seeking a Software Engineer with relevant experience to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in digitizing benefits claim forms to ensure that Veterans receive the benefits they deserve in the most expeditious manner possible.
Responsibilities
• Develops new user-facing features using React
• Builds reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
• Translate designs, wireframes, and user stories into high-quality code
• Optimizes components for maximum performance across various devices and browsers
• Troubleshoots and debug application code and UI
• Collaborates with designers, backend developers, testers, and product managers
• Ensures the overall application is robust, maintainable, and follows best practices
Requirements
• Experience with NPM, Node, React, and Front-end Technologies
• Knowledge of webpack in a Mono Repo environment
• Experience in frontend automated testing (Axe, Cypress)
• Experience Navigating legacy code systems
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and Atlassian Tools (including Jira)
• Knowledge of frontend build tools (Webpack, Babel)
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and API integration
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• 5 years of relevant experience; degree may be substituted for 8 years of experience
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• U.S. Citizenship; Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
Preferred Experience
• Experience with VA design patterns
• Experience in vets-website repository
