Job Overview:
We are looking for a Strategic Project Manager to join our team. This role will drive the execution of Coursera's most critical, company-level strategic initiatives that span 1-2 quarters and multiple top-level functions. From day one, the Strategic Project Manager will have an immediate impact on our ability to execute these strategic priorities effectively and efficiently.
This role reports to the VP, Chief of Staff. Success will be measured through the following:
- Strategic initiative completion (on time, high quality)
- Template/tool adoption and scaling
- Stakeholder satisfaction (especially the Executive Team)
Objectives:
- Drive execution excellence for 1-2 concurrent strategic transformation initiatives, each lasting 1-2 quarters
- Create and manage sophisticated project infrastructure for complex, cross-functional work
- Enable effective stakeholder coordination and communication across all levels
- Ensure systematic tracking, reporting, and risk management
- Build scalable templates and tools that enable organizational execution capability
Responsibilities:
Execute strategic initiatives that meet specific selection criteria:
- CEO and / or Executive Team priorities
- Multi-quarter transformations spanning 3+ functions
- Material to company metrics or business model
Design and maintain project management infrastructure:
- Detailed project plans and timelines
- Status reporting and dashboards
- Risk and dependency tracking
- Meeting management and documentation
Coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups to drive project success:
- Drive alignment on deliverables and timelines
- Ensure clear ownership and accountability
- Surface and resolve bottlenecks
- Maintain momentum toward objectives
Build scalable project management capability:
- Template creation and refinement
- Best practice documentation
- Knowledge transfer mechanisms
- Process improvement recommendations
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of project/program management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Track record of successfully managing company-level, complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Experience coordinating across senior stakeholders, including VPs+
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellence in project infrastructure creation and maintenance
- Outstanding written and verbal communication
- Proven ability to influence without authority
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-growth technology companies
- PMP certification or equivalent
- Experience with transformation or change initiatives
- Master's degree in a relevant field
US Zone 2: $149,340 - $186,675
US Zone 3: $138,320 - $172,900
US Zone 4: $128,820 - $161,025
