We're are building the best platform in the world for engineers to understand, scale, and protect their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, application tracing, and security insights for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

Datadog Continuous Profiling provides customers with real-time, always-on visibility into the behaviour, performance and resource utilization of their applications in production. Seamlessly integrated with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and distributed tracing, Continuous Profiling enables developers and operations teams to optimize application performance, reduce latency, and control cloud costs. By delivering code-level insights without impacting application performance, Continuous Profiling empowers teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks, improve resource efficiency, and ensure applications run smoothly at any scale. With Continuous Profiler, teams always have actionable information at hand during incidents, enabling them to quickly diagnose performance issues, pinpoint the root cause down to specific lines of code, and minimize downtime or user impact. Furthermore, always knowing how their code performs in production allows teams to move faster and with confidence, driving innovation while maintaining the reliability and efficiency of their systems. We are looking for a software engineer to work on our analysis engine. All profiling data sent to Datadog will be continuously analyzed for problems and opportunities. This includes identifying outliers, pathological patterns, events that are deemed dangerous, subpar performance or simply situations we know can be improved upon or that may have future implications.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and evolve the continuous profiler insights and recommendations.
  • Analyze and evaluate the performance of insights and recommendations.
  • Develop new insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with various Datadog AI Teams, such as AI Code Generation and Data Science.
  • Collaborate with profiling teams to design and implement innovative product features.
  • Advise on algorithms and techniques that balance the trade-offs between statistical accuracy and real-world computational constraints.

Who You Are:

  • You have a deep understanding of statistical methods and classical machine learning techniques.
  • You’ve successfully delivered a customer-facing, large-scale analysis experience.
  • You care about performance and have experience in measuring and optimizing algorithms and code.
  • You enjoy working in a fast-moving, high-growth startup environment.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience implementing statistical heuristics and sampling methods.
  • You have hands-on experience with generative AI.
  • Proficiency in optimizing the performance of applications, frameworks, or libraries.
  • Java development experience.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
