Our solution builds off of our school-centered digital health platform, enabling HIPAA & FERPA-compliant digital health charting, chronic disease management, and immunization compliance reporting. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software engineer with a strong background in both education and healthcare sectors to join our dynamic team. The Senior Staff Engineer will play a crucial role in connecting and enhancing our software systems, ensuring seamless data flow and integration. They will possess a deep understanding of industry-specific standards, compliance requirements, and a proven track record of developing and maintaining integrations in complex environments.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Software Solutions: Create custom software solutions tailored to the unique needs of educational and healthcare clients (such as building custom queries and SIS plug-ins and adapters).
Integrations Development: Design, develop, and maintain integrations with School Information System (SIS) platforms (like PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, ProgressBook, etc.). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand integration requirements and ensure the successful execution of projects.
Compliance and Security: Ensure that integrations meet industry-specific compliance requirements such as HIPAA and FERPA. Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive data during transmission and storage.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of integrations to identify and resolve any issues. Perform system validation and regression testing to maintain the integrity and functionality of integrations. Partner with customers (School Districts) to test and validate solutions.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of integration processes, including architecture, design, and configuration. Document best practices, guidelines, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify integration issues and develop effective troubleshooting strategies to resolve them quickly.
Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and subject matter experts to gather requirements, plan integration projects, and provide technical support as needed.
Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant technical experience working in software engineering
4+ years experience working with Ruby on Rails and React
1+ years working with School Information System (SIS) platforms (like PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, ProgressBook, etc.) preferred
Project management skills for handling integration projects from start to finish
Strong knowledge of compliance standards in healthcare (HIPAA) and education (FERPA)
Familiarity with database systems and data transformation techniques
Experience with web services + RESTful APIs
Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
An interest in social determinants of health and healthcare
