About the Position

The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing, logistics, and supplier management across assigned categories to ensure on-time, cost-effective, and high-quality material and service delivery for lithium-ion battery cells, modules, racks, BMS components, raw materials, certification requirements, and hazardous material logistics. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Quality to align supply chain strategy with business objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesCategory-Specific Responsibilities
  • Source and manage suppliers for battery cells, modules, packs, racks, and battery accessories.
  • Understand compliance requirements (UN38.3, UL, IEC, MSDS, handling and storage of hazardous materials).
  • Manage inbound logistics for DG/hazmat materials.
  • Support engineering with qualification of new chemistries, cell formats, and performance characteristics.
  • Monitor global lithium, nickel, cobalt, and graphite supply markets.
  • Source and manage inverter and power conversion system (PCS) suppliers.
  • Support procurement of fully integrated skids (inverter, step-up equipment, cooling, controls).
  • Evaluate manufacturer capabilities related to electrical, mechanical and thermal integration.
  • Manager long-lead times and coordinate production slots with OEMs.
  • Ensure compliance with UL, IEEE, and NEC standards.

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned material or service categories.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, RFQs, negotiations, and contracting activities.
  • Manage contracts, commercial terms, delivery schedules, and pricing agreements.
  • Drive cost reduction through competitive sourcing, multi-sourcing, and TCO analysis.
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews related to quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Lead corrective action processes, risk mitigation planning, and supplier development initiatives.
Planning & Inventory Management
  • Collaborate with planning teams to forecast demand and establish inventory strategies.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels, safety stock, and long-lead procurement plans.
  • Monitor material availability, lead times, and production impact risks.
Logistics & Fulfillment
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing, and delivery schedules.
  • Optimize transportation, freight, and storage costs.
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Engineering on specifications, change management, and material qualifications.
  • Partner with Operations to support production readiness and project delivery.
  • Align with Finance on budgeting, spend analysis, and cost reporting.
  • Support Quality in NCR management and supplier audits.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management
  • Analyze market trends and supply risks across assigned categories.
  • Implement process improvements to streamline procurement and reduce waste.
  • Build contingency plans for supply disruptions, quality issues, or price volatility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of supply chain or procurement experience; experience with industrial, electrical, or energy-sector components preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract-management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, forecasting tools, and supply chain analytics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
