Youtopia, a Colorado-based startup, has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer. This role is hybrid, with expectations of being on-site approximately once a week. Candidates must reside in the greater Denver Metro area. Candidates must be US citizens, no visa sponsorship.

Senior Software Engineer

The strongest fits for this role will have exposure to some or all of these technologies:

  • Creating and maintaining own CI/CD scripts
  • Working in event-driven workflows

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain digital experiences and engineering solutions for  B2B/B2C web and mobile applications.
  • Write, review, and maintain high-quality, maintainable code; actively participate in peer code reviews.
  • Collaborate in daily stand-ups, providing clear updates and transparent feedback on tasks and potential blockers.
  • Assist in grooming sessions by clarifying requirements, assessing technical feasibility, and collaborating closely with Project Managers.
  • Develop web applications using modern frameworks and practices; contribute to defining and refining data models.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, contributing constructive insights to improve the software development process.
  • Engage effectively with clients and team members to ensure clear understanding of requirements and facilitate smoother planning and delivery.
  • Comfortably create technical specifications and justify technical decisions in relation to project constraints (time, scope, budget).
  • Analyze engineering trade-offs to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
  • Independently prioritize and manage your workload, focusing clearly on team priorities and sprint goals.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, helping to define technical roadmaps and product improvements.
  • Implement and maintain complex data-driven applications, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Execute full lifecycle development, from coding and testing through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Support team members by addressing technical questions, troubleshooting challenges, and fostering a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and share relevant insights with the team to continually improve practices.

Skill Set:

Hard Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience developing software applications, with proven ability to deliver impactful features.
  • Computer Science or similar degree preferred, suitable industry experience can substitute for a degree
  • Strong experience with the .NET Core/C# tech stack and cloud technologies (Azure preferred).
  • Proficiency with modern programming languages and frameworks; openness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture patterns and ability to contribute to architecture decisions.
  • Expertise with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively within the team.
  • Comfortable working with legacy systems and modernizing existing codebases.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot independently and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Fundamental understanding of both frontend and backend technologies.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in designing and integrating REST-ful APIs.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, from requirements gathering through deployment.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: 135-150k
