About you

We're looking for a mid-level engineer who's experienced with Python and Airflow, has a sharp eye for data and financial accuracy, and is happy to get stuck into a fast-paced environment to work within our Pricing, Costs & Routing (PCR) squad. You'll champion and lead the build of the automation and data pipelines that power pricing, billing, and financial reporting across Telnyx's product portfolio.

The Opportunity

Our PCR squad owns the backend systems and pipelines behind pricing, margin reporting, and cost analysis across voice, messaging, wireless, and the rest of Telnyx's product portfolio. You'll work with complex Airflow DAGs, rate deck management, pricing APIs, and CDR/MDR data at scale.

You'll own and develop services and pipelines that finance, sales, and product teams rely on every day to make pricing decisions, reconcile vendor costs, and report on the health of the business. You'll have the opportunity to make a huge impact by automating workflows that are currently manual, building self-healing pipelines, and bringing more rigor to how we manage pricing across a growing product set. You'll be part of a small, focused team where the work you ship is visible and consequential.

  • Own and maintain complex Airflow DAGs for pricing automation, margin reporting, and cost analysis.
  • Build and manage rate deck pipelines across multiple product lines.
  • Develop and maintain pricing APIs and services in Python (async).
  • Analyse CDR/MDR data to identify vendor discrepancies and drive refund and reconciliation workflows.
  • Build automated discrepancy resolution and self-healing pipelines.
  • Create and maintain financial reporting: monthly margin reports, negative margin alerts, and GP calculations.
  • Design and build new automation for quoting workflows.

Who we're looking for

  • 3-5 years of professional Python experience, with strong async programming (aiohttp, asyncpg, FastAPI).
  • Airflow production experience — you've built and maintained complex DAGs, not just run them.
  • SQL fluency across PostgreSQL and analytical databases (Athena, BigQuery, or similar).
  • Comfort working with financial and pricing data (margins, markups, cost basis, currency).
  • Ability to read and debug Java services when needed.
  • CI/CD experience with Docker, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills — you can dig through logs, query databases, and trace data pipelines to find the root cause of a discrepancy.
  • Comfortable owning services and pipelines in production, including on-call responsibilities and incident resolution.
  • Comfortable using AI coding agents as part of your investigation workflow, while knowing when to rely on your own judgement.

Bonus Points For

  • Go experience.
  • Telecom or CPaaS background (CDRs, termination rates, origination prefixes).
  • Salesforce or CRM integration experience.
  • Experience with pricing engines or billing systems.
  • You take a thoughtful approach to decision making, knowing when to move fast and when to optimise for the long term.
  • You want to work in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
  • You keep up to date with the latest technologies and patterns, and enjoy sharing what you've learned.
