Position Summary:
The Senior Software Engineer I - Security is responsible for the design, development, testing and maintenance of security solutions within the Pax8 Marketplace and associated systems. Under direction of Application Security Engineering, incumbent will work within a cross-functional team to improve the security posture of our software systems. Our ideal candidate will possess a deep background in software engineering; strong knowledge of modern web-based security standards such as authentication, authorization, and encryption; and sufficient emotional intelligence to thrive within a cross-functional environment.
Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve implementation of various security and security adjacent software in a Java/Kotlin + Spring environment
- Participate in team meetings including refinement sessions, project planning, and other aspects of the agile development lifecycle
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Engineering org, and provide mentorship and guidance on best-practices where applicable
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- At least five years of relevant software development experience.
- Advanced proficiency with a relevant programming language: Java, Kotlin
- Strong understanding in modern web-based authentication & authorization technologies such as OAuth & OIDC
- Solid understanding of data encryption and key management principles
- Demonstrated experience delivering results on cross-functional projects
- Bias for action when objectives are loosely defined
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required Education & Certifications:
- B.A./B.S. in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- This role offers a base salary of $140,000/yr-$180,000/yr, depending on experience.
