ConductorOne is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Developer Experience (DevEx) to champion and own the technical strategy for enabling both internal and external developers to build against our platform with confidence and ease. We are seeking someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, agile environment, collaborating across engineering teams as the primary advocate for developer-first API design and robust integration experiences. You will provide the development team with tools, frameworks, and guidance to build sound APIs, while creating exceptional experiences for external developers through well-maintained SDKs, comprehensive documentation, and community engagement.

What you'll do:
  • Own the Developer Experience technical leadership across the entire platform, defining standards and best practices for API design, SDK maintenance, and integration development

  • Drive API reliability initiatives by building tools, tests, and processes that prevent breaking changes and enable the team to ship robust APIs consistently

  • Maintain and enhance our SDK ecosystem across multiple languages (TypeScript, Python, Go) using Speakeasy and other generation tools, ensuring high quality and developer-friendly interfaces

  • Lead Terraform Provider development, fixing bugs, adding features, and ensuring seamless infrastructure-as-code experiences for our users

  • Evaluate and implement DevEx tooling by working with existing third parties and creating internal tools that improve external developer experience and facilitate easing the burden of internal teams continual growth of the API

  • Champion testing excellence across engineering teams, establishing best practices for API testing, integration testing, and preventing regressions to the API, SDKs, and Terraform provider

  • Facilitate community engagement by managing GitHub submissions, issues, and contributions while maintaining clear communication channels with our developer community

  • Create compelling technical content including documentation, blog posts, sample integrations, and tutorials that enable external developers to successfully build on the ConductorOne platform

  • Build new platform integrations and provide feedback on extensibility features to ensure our platform meets the evolving needs of the developer ecosystem

  • Coach and evangelize API design principles, helping teams understand what makes APIs robust, why developer experience matters, and how to build with external developers in mind

  • You are a skilled software engineer with deep passion for developer experience, API design, and enabling others to build great software with cutting-edge technologies

  • You are an expert in modern DevEx tooling including SDK generators (Speakeasy or similar), API testing frameworks, documentation tools, and CI/CD integration for developer-facing products

  • You love working in a fast-paced agile environment with dynamic prioritization and can navigate the unique challenges of balancing internal team needs with external developer requirements

  • You are able to move to clarity in the face of ambiguity, translating vague developer pain points into concrete technical solutions and actionable improvements

  • You demonstrate a pragmatic approach to API design and developer tooling, with a bias toward action and delivering working solutions incrementally while maintaining high quality standards

  • You are a natural communicator and teacher, excited about evangelizing best practices and helping teams understand the "why" behind robust API development

Extra Credit if…
  • Experience with Go programming language and its ecosystem for building developer tools and integrations

  • Terraform experience with provider development, HCL, and infrastructure-as-code best practices

  • Speakeasy or similar SDK generation tools experience with code generation, templating, and multi-language SDK maintenance

  • Experience with 3rd party integration challenges including versioning, backward compatibility, and developer onboarding flows

  • Experience with Identity Governance and/or cyber security domains and their unique API requirements
