Our Mission at Scythe

Humanity has lost touch with nature - we’ve traded dirt and trees for asphalt, and we rely on loud, polluting, gas-powered machines to care for our limited natural spaces.

Scythe is forging a new future by building intelligent, all-electric machines that unlock a new superpower: the ability to care for the outdoors pollution-free at enormous scale. From today’s first steps in landscape maintenance to full-fledged re-terraforming in the future, Scythe is pioneering autonomous machinery that supports the ingenuity of humans, multiplying our power to nurture our planet.

At Scythe, you’ll work with a team of world-class experts in everything from computer vision to mechanical engineering, pushing the limits of possibility and growing by overcoming hurdles along the way.

The world needs what we’re building—come join us in making it a reality.

Senior Software Engineer, Data & Analytics at Scythe

As a Senior Software Engineer in Data Engineering, you will design, implement, and optimize data pipelines and workflows that enable the company to process and analyze data from our robots and operations at scale. You will work extensively with Python, Dagster, AWS cloud services, and Kubernetes to build reliable and scalable systems that help Scythe be more effective through data-driven decisions. Experience in robotics or large-scale data systems is a strong plus, as you'll work closely with engineers building those cutting-edge systems.

  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes-based infrastructure for data workflows and applications using terraform, helm, and ArgoCD
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance, reliability, and scalability

What you know well

  • Programming in Python and its data engineering ecosystem, such as Pandas or PySpark
  • Dagster or other orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect)
  • AWS cloud services, including compute, storage, and networking solutions
  • Managing containerized applications and orchestration using Kubernetes and AWS Fargate

  • Experience with SQL and GraphQL

What you've maybe done

  • Designed data modeling strategies
  • Built data ingestion and analytics services from scratch
  • Led a team of engineers to develop data and analytics systems
