About the Role:

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Camunda, you will work at the intersection of Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success to ensure the successful adoption and integration of Camunda 8 by our key customers

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • You will:

    • Influence product direction based on technical insights and real-world feedback

    • Strategize with PM, Design, Engineering, and Field teams on how to solve complex enterprise issues in a repeatable way.

    • Directly assist with implementation for strategic customers

    • Build tools, prototypes, or code contributions that bridge gaps in product capability or documentation

    • Partner closely with account teams to solve complex integration challenges and accelerate value delivery

    This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who thrives in ambiguous, customer-facing situations and wants to drive real impact across our product and community

    • Customer Advocacy
      Act as a customer proxy within the Engineering organization, ensuring real-world needs inform product strategy.

    • Customer Implementation & Onboarding
      From an Engineering perspective, lead and support the technical implementation of Camunda 8, including deployment strategies, infrastructure integration, and environment-specific customization.

    • Product Contribution
      Identify gaps or friction points in customer usage. Contribute code (Java, React, Python) or build MVPs to resolve them. Partner with core Engineering for final delivery and maintenance.

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration
      Work closely with Account Managers, Customer Success, and Consulting to understand customer needs and ensure alignment across functions.

    • Technical Troubleshooting
      Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to deployment, integration, and performance.

    • Product Expertise & Documentation
      Create and maintain advanced documentation, architectural guidance, and best practice resources to empower other teams and customers.

    • Platform Breadth
      Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Camunda platform: Zeebe, Operate, Identity, Connectors, and modeling tooling.

What You Bring:

  • Ability and/or willingness to use our product.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • At least 3 years in software development or technical customer-facing roles

  • Proficiency in Java

  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), networking, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and relational databases (SQL, Oracle)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to simplify complex technical concepts for varied audiences

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)

  • Exposure to business process automation (e.g., BPMN, workflow engines, Camunda)

  • Open-source contributions or experience building internal tools

  • CI/CD and DevOps experience

What We Have to Offer:

Compensation

For external hires, we consider the skills and experience of the incoming candidate, but typically place candidates in the first half of the range to ensure ample room for growth over the entire lifecycle of the role.

Below is the annual Total Target Cash Compensation (Total Cash) range for Camundi located in one of our entities. Total Cash refers to base salary and 100% attainment of variable target, where applicable. Actual Total Cash offered will depend on factors such as skills and qualifications related to the role. To comprise the Total Rewards package, Camunda also offers equity (where applicable) in the form of a Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan and benefits based on the country of residence. 

The annual Total Cash range for this position for Camundi in our entities is as follows: 

  • United States: $143,800.00 to $231,900.00

  • Germany: €92,900.00 to €153,700.00

  • United Kingdom: £90,300.00 to £148,500.00

  • Singapore: S$178,600.00 to S$267,900.00

If you are outside one of these countries, you would be employed by our Preferred Employer Organization (PEO), Remote.
