ABOUT RETELL AI

Retell AI is using the first principles to reimagine the call center with cutting edge voice AI.

Since launching 18 months ago, thousands of companies now utilize Retell’s AI voice agents to handle sales, support, and logistics calls that once required large teams of human agents. Backed by Y Combinator, Alt Capital, and other leading investors, we have scaled to $36M ARR with a team of 20 people, up from $5M at the start of 2025.

Our vision for 2026 is to build a modern CX platform where entire contact centers are powered by AI. Instead of basic automation that needs constant human tuning, we’re creating intelligent AI “workers” that can act as frontline agents, QA analysts, and managers — continuously executing, monitoring, and improving customer interactions.

We’re growing quickly and looking for ambitious builders who want to tackle hard technical problems, move fast, and have real impact at one of the fastest-growing voice AI startups.

Let’s build the future together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Software Engineer, AI Automations at Retell, you will build and own the internal systems that power how the company operates, sells, hires, and stays compliant.

This is a high-leverage, cross-functional engineering role focused on automating business-critical workflows across HR, GTM, Finance, Security, and Operations. You’ll work directly with founders and functional leaders to turn manual, error-prone processes into scalable, reliable systems using modern tooling, APIs, and LLMs.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys full-stack development, moves quickly in 0–1 environments, and wants to deeply understand how a fast-growing AI company actually runs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESBuild Core Business Automations
  • Design and implement internal tools and workflows that automate key business processes across the company.

  • Own systems end-to-end: requirements, architecture, implementation, deployment, and iteration.

HR & Recruiting Automation
  • Build resume ingestion and candidate evaluation pipelines, including extracting signals and structured attributes from resumes.

  • Implement candidate scoring systems to estimate likelihood of passing interviews.

  • Develop AI-assisted recruiting tools (candidate screening, recruiter assistants, interview coordination).

  • Automate candidate email outreach, follow-ups, and status updates.

Security & Compliance Tooling
  • Build and maintain automations for customer contracts, including BAA, DPA, and DocuSign workflows.

  • Create systems to automate customer security and compliance questionnaires.

  • Partner with legal and security stakeholders to encode compliance logic into reliable tools.

Operations & Finance Automation
  • Build account receivable workflows, invoicing support, and automated customer communications.

  • Develop tooling for enterprise customer onboarding and account setup.

  • Reduce operational overhead by replacing manual processes with robust internal systems.

GTM & Revenue Engineering
  • Build and maintain automations across CRM and GTM systems.

  • Implement customer lifecycle automations across signup, onboarding, expansion, and renewal.

  • Support targeted website, ads, and email personalization workflows.

  • Partner closely with GTM teams to ship tools that directly impact revenue efficiency.

Integrations & Platforms
  • Integrate with third-party systems

  • Design APIs and internal services that scale company growth.

YOU MIGHT THRIVE IF
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

  • Have 2+ years of full-stack professional software engineering experience

  • You’ve worked with React and Python for 1+ year and are comfortable building and iterating on user-facing features.

  • Have 1+ year of startup experience and are comfortable with ambiguity and fast iteration.

  • Are strong across backend, frontend, and integrations, not just one layer.

  • Enjoy working on internal tools that directly impact how teams operate.

  • Can translate messy business problems into clean technical systems.

  • Move quickly on 0–1 projects without needing heavy process or direction.

  • Communicate clearly with non-engineering stakeholders and cross-functional partners.

  • Prefer ownership and responsibility over narrowly scoped tickets.

  • Experience partnering closely with GTM, Ops, Finance, or Legal teams is a plus

  • Prior work on internal tooling, automation platforms, or workflow systems is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with CRM, billing, or compliance-related systems is a plus
