Newsweek reaches 100 million people each month with thought-provoking news, opinion, images, graphics, and video delivered across a dozen print and digital platforms. Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia.

Newsweek is seeking a creative and dynamic Social Media Associate to support our growing Events & Nexus businesses. This role will be responsible for developing and executing engaging social media strategies that promote Newsweek’s global events portfolio, drive audience engagement, and showcase our thought leadership platforms. The successful candidate will manage content creation, scheduling, and live coverage across multiple platforms, ensuring our events are amplified before, during, and after they take place.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring fresh creative ideas, and work closely with our events, editorial, and marketing teams to deliver high-impact campaigns.

While this role is remote in the United States, candidates located on the East Coast are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to promote Newsweek’s events portfolio across platforms including LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.
  • Create enaging content (copy, graphics, short-form video, live updates) that builds awareness, drives registrations, and amplifies key event moments.
  • Provide live event coverage, including live-tweeting sessions, capturing quotes, and posting highlight moments in real time.
  • Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics to optimize engagement and reach.
  • Stay up to date with social media trends, tools, and platform updates to bring innovative ideas to Newsweek’s events promotion.
  • Work closely with the Events, Marketing, and Editorial teams to align messaging and maximize impact.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing social media for a brand, publisher, or events business.
  • Proven ability to create engaging social content, including graphics and short-form video.
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for different platforms and audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience in B2B promotion and audience development, particularly targeting executives, industry leaders, and professional communities.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and flexible approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience
