Job Summary

The Senior Product Owner maximizes the business value of a portfolio of products or highly complex products by articulating the “what” and “why” of the product strategy, translating enterprise and customer needs into outcomes, and ensuring delivery aligns to both value stream and organizational objectives.

The Senior Product Owner serves as a strategic product leader, owning multiple products and/or complex domains, mentoring other Product Owners, and shaping product practices across the organization. They are accountable not only for delivery outcomes, but for developing product capability, influencing enterprise decision‑making, and scaling product excellence.

The Senior Product Owner works closely with executive leadership, business partners, risk and control stakeholders, Agile teams, and other Product Owners to ensure sustained value delivery, risk transparency, and strategic alignment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of products and/or highly complex products, ensuring alignment across roadmaps, value streams, and enterprise priorities.

  • Establish and maintain a portfolio‑level product vision, balancing near‑term outcomes with longer‑term strategic objectives.

  • Make tradeoff decisions across products to optimize overall business value, capacity, and risk exposure.

  • Demonstrate accountability for portfolio‑level outcomes, not just individual product or feature delivery.

  • Own and communicate progress against value stream and portfolio goals, including delivered outcomes, realized value, and performance trends.

  • Translate enterprise strategies into actionable product objectives across multiple Agile teams.

  • Own executive‑level written and visual communications for the product portfolio, including value realization, risks, dependencies, milestones, and strategic decisions.

  • Serve as a trusted product advisor to executive and senior leadership, clearly articulating tradeoffs, implications, and recommendations.

  • Influence organizational priorities and investment decisions through data‑driven product insights.

  • Provide portfolio‑level oversight of risk, controls, and security findings across owned products.

  • Partner with risk, compliance, security, and technology stakeholders to:

  • Prioritize remediation efforts across products

  • Balance delivery capacity with risk reduction

  • Ensure transparency of risk exposure and mitigation progress

  • Coach and mentor Product Owners, providing guidance on outcome ownership, backlog management, stakeholder communication, and product decision‑making.

  • Lead and contribute to the Product Owner Community of Practice, establishing shared standards, best practices, and learning agendas.

  • Raise overall Product Owner capability by modeling strong product thinking, communication, and leadership behaviors.

  • Recommend and implement product management standards, practices, and operating models to improve consistency and effectiveness across the organization.

  • Contribute to the evolution of Agile and product delivery practices to support enterprise maturity goals.

  • Partner with leadership to continuously improve how products are funded, measured, and governed.

  • Guide Product Owners and Agile teams in complex environments involving multiple dependencies, systems, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure consistent application of outcome‑driven product practices across teams.

  • Support Scrum Masters and delivery leaders in resolving cross‑team impediments affecting portfolio outcomes.

Organizational Impact

  • Owns and develops strategic and operational goals for assigned product domains or portfolios.

  • Directs initiatives with significant impact on business results, customer experience, and enterprise risk posture.

  • Shapes product strategy and execution across multiple teams and value streams.

  • Influences decisions with organization‑wide implications.

Education, Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, advanced degree preferred.

  • Requires mastery‑level knowledge of product ownership, Agile delivery, and value‑based prioritization.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple products or complex product ecosystems.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk, controls, and compliance considerations within technology delivery.

  • Typically, 8–10 years of relevant experience, including ownership of multiple products or complex product ecosystems.

Required Skills

  • Executive‑level communication and storytelling skills, including synthesis of complex value, delivery, dependency, and risk information to influence leadership decisions.

  • Advanced product and portfolio management capabilities, using Agile lifecycle tools to balance priorities, tradeoffs, and outcomes across multiple products or complex domains.

  • Expert use of Microsoft 365 tools to produce executive‑ready materials, decision‑support artifacts, and portfolio‑level reporting.

  • Advanced facilitation and visualization skills using road mapping and collaboration tools to align executives, Product Owners, and cross‑functional teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership in the effective and responsible use of AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to scale product thinking, improve communication quality, and increase team efficiency.

  • Strong analytical and technical judgment, including the ability to interpret data, guide others in data‑informed decision‑making, and partner deeply with engineering, data, and DevOps leaders.

Required Licensing, Registration and/or Certifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification required.

SALARY RANGE: $137,500 to $155,500 annually depending upon experience.
This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on the successful completion of defined performance objectives.

In addition to up to 9 paid company holidays per year, employees are eligible for up to 6 days of sick pay. Moreover, eligible employees with less than 10 years of service can accrue up to 17 PTO days per year (and up to 22 PTO days per year upon 10 or more years of service). Employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Plan. Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage. Employees are covered by company-paid disability, basic life insurance and parental leave. Voluntary insurance coverage options, including critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity, are also available. In addition, the Company offers an Employee Assistance Program and tuition reimbursement (as applicable). Employees may also be eligible for state required benefits such as paid family and medical leave insurance and/or paid sick time as applicable.
