The Opportunity
SailPoint is the leader in identity security, and data is the foundation of our intelligent, unified platform. We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Data Platform Product Manager to own the strategy and roadmap for the critical infrastructure that powers all data-driven products, including our AI/ML capabilities, analytics, and data-as-a-product offerings.
You will be the bridge between internal data consumers (Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Leaders) and the Data Engineering teams, ensuring our data platform is scalable, reliable, compliant, and delivers maximum business Impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Vision
Define, articulate, and champion the long-term vision and strategy for the SailPoint Data Platform, aligning it with the overall Identity Security Cloud and AI/ML roadmap.
Conduct internal customer research with data consumers to deeply understand their needs, pain points, and opportunities for increasing their productivity and data literacy.
Own the strategy for our Business Intelligence (BI) platforms ensuring data is accessible and actionable for business stakeholders.
Define measurable success metrics and KPIs for the Data Platform (e.g., data quality, platform reliability/uptime, cost efficiency, and adoption rate).
2. Roadmap & Execution
Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for data-as-a-product offerings, data ingestion pipelines, storage technologies, and data governance tooling.
Prioritize platform investments across foundational needs (security, scalability, observability) and high-impact new capabilities (real-time data streams, new data sources).
Drive the integration and feature roadmap for our search technologies, including OpenSearch, focusing on efficient indexing, high performance, and advanced searching techniques.
Translate complex platform requirements into clear, concise, and actionable user stories and specifications for Data Engineering teams, working within an Agile framework.
3. Data Governance & Integrity
Partner closely with Legal, Security, and Governance teams to ensure the Data Platform adheres to strict security standards and global regulatory compliance requirements.
Define and enforce policies for data quality, lineage, and access controls to ensure Integrity and trustworthiness of all data leveraged across the organization.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enablement
Act as the primary interface between Data Engineering, Data Science, Core Product teams, and Executive Stakeholders.
Drive adoption of the Data Platform by creating clear documentation, training materials, and fostering a culture of data self-service and Innovation across the company.
Effectively communicate technical trade-offs and business value of platform investments to non-technical audiences.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 3 years focused on Data Platforms, Data Infrastructure, or internal-facing Platform products.
Proven experience defining and managing a high-scale data platform roadmap (e.g., using technologies like Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, Spark, or similar cloud-native data services).
Demonstrated experience working with Business Intelligence tools, (e.g., Qlik), and understanding how to optimize the underlying data platform for BI consumption.
Strong knowledge of modern search technologies (e.g., OpenSearch/Elasticsearch) and various searching techniques (e.g., relevance scoring, distributed indexing).
Deep understanding of the data ecosystem, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT, data governance, and data quality principles.
Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment infrastructure and how to support the needs of Data Science teams.
Strong technical acumen, including proficiency in SQL and a conceptual understanding of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills to drive consensus across multiple functional teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the Identity, Security, or SaaS industry.
Prior hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or Data Analyst.
Experience with a Unified Data Model architecture and principles.
Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):
$126,600 - $180,900 - $235,200Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
