Senior Product Manager, Transactional Accounting
Introduction to the Team
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
The Global Financial Technology organization is a strategic partner for all finance functions, ensuring finance initiatives and dependencies are delivered on time and within budget. As part of the Transactional Accounting and Financial Data Engineering team, you will help lead the transformation of Expedia Group's accounting infrastructure — moving away from fragmented, legacy transactional accounting processes toward a unified platform capable of daily financial processing at scale. This shift underpins how Expedia Group closes its books, manages multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, and supports the pace of new business initiatives, making this team a critical enabler of enterprise-wide financial agility.
Make an Impact!
As Senior Product Manager, Transactional Accounting, you will define the product strategy for how Expedia Group's next-generation accounting platform transforms legacy transactional accounting processes and accelerates business initiatives. You will own the translation of complex, fragmented accounting rules into a unified, configurable product built on Oracle Cloud FAH, in close partnership with Accounting, Controllership, Tax, FP&A, and Engineering.
Beyond platform transformation, you will identify where emerging capabilities — including AI-driven reasoning and knowledge systems — can meaningfully change how transactional accounting operates, and take those opportunities from concept to organizational alignment to engineering-ready specification. Your mandate is to ensure transactional accounting and analytics function as an accelerator for the business, not a constraint.
This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Transactional Accounting and Financial Data Engineering, within Global Financial Technology (GFT), and will work in close daily partnership with Engineering leads on the platform as well as finance-side stakeholders across Accounting, Controllership, Tax, FP&A, Treasury, and Audit.
In this role, you will:
- Own the product vision and roadmap for the Accounting Hub and Financial Data Engineering Platform.
- Partner with Accounting, Controllership, Tax, FP&A, Treasury, and Audit to validate that transformed accounting outcomes are equivalent to — or improve upon — legacy behavior, and to align stakeholders on transformation sequencing and risk.
- Define how the platform and its released capabilities can be leveraged to accelerate adjacent business initiatives, reducing time-to-market for teams that depend on transactional accounting infrastructure.
- Identify, shape, and build the business case for applying AI/ML to transactional accounting operations — such as intelligent anomaly detection, financial completeness monitoring, or a queryable knowledge repository for accounting rules — and drive these opportunities from concept through organizational alignment to engineering-ready specification.
- Define success metrics and measurement frameworks for platform transformation initiatives, tracking progress against legacy elimination, automation of manual touch points, and reduction in operational overhead.
- Lead cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Accounting, and Product teams to sequence delivery, manage dependencies, and ensure the platform scales to support new business lines and initiatives without proportional increases in operational complexity.
- Own end-to-end product delivery — from problem definition and requirements through launch, adoption, and iteration — partnering with engineering teams operating in a build-to-operate model.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management experience, including significant work on complex, data-intensive, or platform-oriented products; finance, accounting, or enterprise systems experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous, cross-system business requirements into clear product specifications, including experience working with legacy system rationalization or platform migration.
- Proven track record partnering with finance, accounting, or similarly regulated business functions to align technical solutions with business and compliance requirements.
- Experience driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, business, and operations stakeholders to sequence delivery and manage dependencies on multi-quarter transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows, and the ability to identify and shape opportunities where AI/ML can meaningfully improve enterprise operations, including safely conceiving, aligning, and specifying such capabilities for engineering delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex technical or accounting concepts to both technical and business audiences, including finance leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on familiarity with Oracle Cloud ERP (General Ledger, Financial Accounting Hub, Financial Gateway) or comparable enterprise accounting platforms.
- Understanding of accounting principles, financial close processes, revenue recognition, or reconciliation workflows in a high-volume, multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
- Experience defining product strategy for platforms that replace or consolidate legacy systems, including familiarity with SOX controls, audit requirements, and enterprise change management standards.
- Experience conceiving and shaping AI/ML-driven product opportunities in a regulated or precision-critical domain, with attention to explainability, auditability, and trust.
- Experience operating in a build-to-operate delivery model, transitioning platform components from build/test/go-live phases into steady-state operations.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
