PlayOn Sports is the largest platform for high school sports in the US, reaching millions of fans, parents, coaches, and student athletes across NFHS Network, MaxPreps, and GoFan. Our products span live and on-demand video, scores and stats, recruiting, ticketing, and event management. This Senior Product Manager, Engagements role sits on the Video team and owns the Engagement pod: the web and app experiences that turn a stream into a habit, and the new offerings that keep subscribers coming back.
Over the past year, the video team improved stability and refreshed our visual identity, and the results are showing up in the metrics. With the platform stable, the opportunity now is engagement and retention: deepening how families use NFHS Network across web and apps, and finding new ways to put our video to work for athletes and their families. We're looking for someone who wants to own that chapter.
The Outcomes You’ll Deliver
- Own the engagement and retention experience end-to-end across all NFHS Network web and apps
- Partner with a team of engineers and a senior product designer to deliver high-quality, reliable experiences across web, mobile, and CTV
- Drive measurable business outcomes such as subscriber retention, viewer engagement, NPS, and app store ratings
- Utilize our video in new and innovative ways to create value for athletes and their families
- Elevate the in-product experience to delight and retain subscribers
- Balance customer needs, business impact, and technical tradeoffs in product decisions
- Develop clear, data-backed business cases and influence executive stakeholders
- Partner closely with growth and marketing teams to drive adoption and usage, not just feature delivery
In this role, you can expect to
- Own engagement and retention as measurable disciplines - define the bar, instrument it, and connect the work to retention impact
- Lead the roadmap for engagement features across NFHS Network web and apps, balancing quick wins against durable bets
- Explore and ship new ways to use our video that create value for athletes and their families, from concept and prototype through launch and iteration
- Run a steady cadence of experiments, using device and browser segmentation to learn fast and decide with data
- Build and defend business cases for new investments, grounded in subscriber economics
- Partner with growth and marketing on go-to-market for every major launch - adoption metrics are part of the plan from day one, not an afterthought
- Prototype and pressure-test ideas before committing engineering cycles - you ship rough working versions, not just specs
- Represent the engagement product in leadership conversations with fluency in both the customer and financial dimensions
To thrive in this role, you have
- 5+ years in product roles, ideally shipping consumer experiences across platforms (web, mobile apps, CTV)
- A track record of outcome-oriented, strategic product decisions made from customer feedback and data, plus the ability to set strategy, communicate it to executives, and follow through on outcomes
- Experience in B2C subscription or consumer businesses where retention and activation are first-class metrics
- You build your own models and analyses. You don't wait for a data team to tell you what's working
- Experience in environments where speed matters and perfect is the enemy of shipped
- Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate your workflow - from building prototypes and running analyses to pressure-testing ideas - and willing to question whether traditional PM artifacts like PRDs are the best way to drive outcomes
- Sports and/or streaming experience
- Experience with CTV / connected-device apps

How You Play
Ownership over Participation: You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges.
Team over Stars: You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed.
Growth over Comfort: You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn.
Fairness over Popularity: You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making.
