Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. The Role
As Product Manager for Customers at Square, you will be responsible for aiming Square's Customer Data Platform, including the data we securely, safely, and privately store, and how that data can be harnessed by sellers through AI-enabled workflows. You will align teams across Block on data governance policies that create customer transparency while empowering Square's sellers to reach new customers through Square's Marketing suite and 3rd party marketing partners. Your remit will also include continuously evolving the in-store and digital customer experience of buyers, transparently improving customer service for buyers around the world. This is a rare opportunity to build software that strengthens human relationships between real people, at Square scale. Within the organization, this is an extremely high-leverage role, with ability to drive impact across the full Block ecosystem, including Cash app.
You Will
  • Own Square's Customers Directory
  • Set strategy, drive execution to continuously iterate and improve Square product offering spanning customer data, marketing products, and customer experience
  • Work with a team of highly motivated product engineers and designers
  • Evangelize product thinking across your team, be the voice of the customer, and drive a roadmap rooted in solving problems, unlocking new behaviors, and reimagining how buyer and seller interactions should feel both in-store and online
  • Do whatever it takes to move drive teams forward: seek executive alignment, jump into Figma, go down to ground level on data models with engineering
  • Ship things, and share them widely. You are the loudspeaker for your team's work

You Have
  • Had many trips to the plate as a PM, shipping, learning, building, failing. You've seen the highs and low, and know what great looks like
  • Deep discontent for poor user experience - from the code to the last pixel a user interacts with. You set the bar for quality and push your teams to aim higher
  • A genuine desire to be coached, to learn, and improve in your craft
  • A good sense of humor about the work. You have high EQ, can work with people of all stripes and points of view, to craft healthy, high-velocity, mission-oriented teams

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
