About The Role
VSCO is building its advertising business from the ground up. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager, Advertising to help define and execute the product roadmap across both programmatic and direct monetization. This person will partner closely with sales, engineering, marketing, operations, and leadership to grow revenue while protecting the creative integrity of the VSCO experience.
You’ll be responsible for building the infrastructure that unlocks monetization — including addressability, brand safety, viewability, and measurement — while developing scalable, user-aligned ad units. You will help ensure VSCO is accessible to buyers via both open and private marketplaces, and that our ad experience stands out for both our users and advertising partners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, a deep understanding and liking of advertising technology, and a proven track record of delivering impact in fast-paced environments.
The Day to Day
- Driving the growth and evolution of VSCO's advertising product from requirements definition, research, metrics analysis, technical specifications, development, testing, and learning.
- Developing, enhancing, and managing our advertising products -- you will manage and evolve the roadmap, align business and technical needs, analyze customer and performance data, turn insights into actionable initiatives, determine rollout strategy, and manage risk.
- Conducting competitive analysis and customer research to understand the emerging trends in the advertising industry and segment needs that help identify new opportunities, inform reach objectives, and help get the rest of the team on board.
- Building collaborative and trusted relationships with key partners by determining and driving priorities aligned to business goals, communicating the product roadmap, and gaining buy-in from leadership.
- Leading development of foundational systems that support buyer expectations for identity resolution, audience addressability, brand safety, viewability, and third-party measurement.
- Collaborating with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Programmatic Ops to prioritize features that unlock demand from DSPs, SSPs, trading desks, and direct buyers.
- Designing scalable ad experiences and custom solutions that resonate with Gen Z and align with VSCO’s aesthetic and values.
- Work with Engineering and Design to launch ad placements that resonate with advertisers and perform in privacy across our mobile app and web properties.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in product management, with experience in advertising, ad tech, or media platforms.
- Strong understanding of digital ad ecosystems, including programmatic buying and publisher-side monetization.
- Experience developing or scaling ad products across mobile apps and mobile web — including native units, auctions, segmentation, and measurement.
- Hands-on operating experience with a publisher-side ad server, like Google Ad Manager.
- Knowledge of concepts like viewability, contextual targeting, identity resolution, and real-time bidding.
- Passionate about solving complex problems from the ground up.
- A wiz at thinking and acting strategically and tactically. No task is too large or too small
- Are a natural storyteller; your spoken and written communication is clear and concise and you drive alignment effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Move fast, are a natural instigator, and are comfortable with ambiguity.
- Are a strong partner to cross-functional teammates, especially engineering teams on platform infrastructure – understanding when it’s right to collaborate vs lead.
- Are a great prioritizer, have strong instincts when it comes to what matters, and have experience making tough but smart trade-offs.
- Are constantly monitoring metrics and thinking about how the work ladders up to business and user value.
- You have a proven ability to get things done in fast-paced startup environments where being resourceful is a critical skill.
- Experience building ad solutions on consumer platforms with Gen Z or creator-focused communities.
- Familiarity with rewarded video, performance-based advertising (CPA/CPC), or branded integrations.
- Experience with auction dynamics and marketplace optimization on web or mobile.
