Senior Product Designer (Contract, 3-months, remote)
Location: Anywhere
Timeframe: 3-month engagement (part-time option possible)
Company: Genieart, Inc. (brand: “Genie”) — an intelligent creative-canvas platform for artists to build custom workflows with AI assistance. Genie

About Genie

Genie is an all-in-one platform for creators and artists: a smart workspace that combines text, image, video, sound, 3D, interactive tools and AI assistance so users can create, iterate, edit and publish without switching between multiple apps. Genie
We believe deeply in the creative process, and building software that frees artists to focus on their craft rather than juggling tooling.
We’re looking for a seasoned Product Designer who can craft sophisticated software-like interfaces, while bringing a strong creative-industry sensibility.

Role Summary

As Senior Product Designer you will play a key role in shaping the experience of our core product: the intelligent canvas and creator workflow tools. You will design high-fidelity interfaces for complex features (e.g., workflow editors, AI assistants, multiformat editors) and collaborate closely with product, engineering and creative teams to ensure both usability and aesthetic alignment with our creative‐first mission. Because we serve creators and artists, a strong background in creative workflows (tools used by designers, video editors, 3D / interactive makers) is highly desirable.

This is initially a fixed 3-month contract engagement with the option for part-time allocation (e.g., around 20-25 hours/week) if preferred. The rate is up to USD 65 per hour. The role is fully remote — location is flexible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of complex, software-style interfaces (e.g., node editors, workflow builders, multi-format editors, drag-and-drop canvases) with a clear focus on usability, visual clarity, and scalability.

  • Translate user needs, business goals and technical constraints into intuitive UI/UX flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs.

  • Work closely with product managers and engineers to define design requirements, refine feature scopes, iterate on prototypes, and ensure design specs are implemented with fidelity.

  • Advocate for the user — conduct (or partner with) usability reviews, gather feedback, iterate design.

  • Bring a creative industry mindset: understand how creators (artists, video editors, 3D/interactive designers) think, what their workflows are, and design for that context (not just generic SaaS tools).

  • Develop, maintain and evolve design systems/components that support rapid iteration while maintaining visual and interaction consistency.

  • Collaborate with brand, motion/animation, and visual design teams to ensure the UI reflects a high-quality, craft-oriented aesthetic.

  • Ensure responsiveness, accessibility (where applicable), performance constraints and cross-platform consistency are factored into your designs.

  • Communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders and collaborate with engineering during implementation to maintain design integrity.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of UX/UI / product design experience — specifically designing complex software-style tools (not just marketing sites or simple apps).

  • Strong portfolio showing work on high-complexity interfaces: e.g., workflow editors, developer tools, creative tools, multi-pane dashboards, drag-drop UIs.

  • Proven ability to design for creative industries (artists, designers, multimedia editors) or tooling used by creative professionals.

  • Excellent visual design sensibilities: typography, layout, color, spacing, iconography, motion/interaction.

  • Proficiency with design & prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Principle, After Effects) and with handing off to engineering.

  • Familiarity with design systems and component-based UI design.

  • Strong communication skills — able to articulate design decisions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to feedback.

  • Self-motivated, comfortable working remotely and in a startup/fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.

  • Bonus: Experience designing for AI-powered tools, creative workflows, multi-media (text/image/video/3D) editors or node-based visual interfaces.

Engagement Details

  • Duration: 3 months initial contract.

  • Time commitment: Flexible; part-time (e.g., ~20-25 hours/week) is acceptable.

  • Location: Fully remote (work from anywhere).

  • Start date: As soon as possible / mutually agreed.

  • Reporting: You’ll work with our Product Lead and Creative/UX Lead, interacting regularly with engineering and other stakeholders.
