We’re looking for an experienced interaction designer that cares about delivering exceptional user experiences to join our team. Interaction Design at Yahoo is part of the Central Design organization. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate early and directly with Product Designers, Visual Designers and Software Engineers that work across our suite of Yahoo products. This includes Yahoo Mail, Search, Homepage, Weather and more. Using your unique expertise, you’ll bring the product vision to life through exploration beyond flat mockups, creating dynamic, interactive experiences early in the design process to empower our teams to remain forward-thinking and competitive.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluate project requests and timelines to understand how they might benefit from Interaction Design support
Embed and collaborate closely with Product Designers, Visual Designers and Engineers to create realistic, impactful prototypes and interaction designs
Create interface concepts, featuring delightful interactions and affordances that resonate with stakeholders and users
Partner with engineering to evaluate technical feasibility and reusability of concepts and prototypes
Imagine possibilities and inspire teams with your toolbox and skillset.
Provide guidance and mentorship to designers that are looking to expand their prototyping and interaction design expertise
8+ years of experience in product design, interaction design, motion graphics and/or design organizations.
A portfolio of work that demonstrates your interaction design toolkit and skillset
Familiarity with web and native code bases as well as incorporating AI tools into workflows
An eagerness to explore possibilities unlocked by the latest tools, frameworks, and technologies—whether that means experimenting with iOS and Android betas, testing new device capabilities, or working with modern web animation APIs
A deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire stakeholders across an organization
Experience embedding as an interaction designer in product, design or engineering orgs.
A passion for mentoring and coaching other designers, including the ability to teach and guide them in using prototyping tools
A track record of delivering high-quality, innovative concepts and solutions that resonate with users
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 - $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
