Director of Architecture — Java, Cloud & SaaS Platforms
Location: Remote, United States
Majesco is building the next generation of cloud platforms for the insurance industry.
We are seeking a hands-on Director of Architecture with deep Java expertise to lead the design of scalable, high-performance SaaS systems. This leader defines architectural direction, solves complex engineering problems, and guides teams building modern cloud-native platforms.
You will shape platform architecture, mentor engineering teams, and drive technical decisions across Java, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
Bonus: Experience with Life, Health, or Annuity insurance platforms.
What You Will Do
- Define and lead architecture for enterprise SaaS platforms built on Java and cloud technologies.
- Design scalable microservices systems that support high-volume, mission-critical applications.
- Guide engineering teams on Java development best practices, including concurrency, multi-threading, performance optimization, and system scalability.
- Lead architecture reviews and set engineering standards for distributed systems, APIs, and platform services.
- Solve complex technical challenges involving performance, latency, reliability, and distributed processing.
- Design cloud-native solutions using Azure services such as Kubernetes, serverless functions, and cloud data platforms.
- Partner with product, engineering, and delivery teams to build secure, resilient, and scalable software.
- Establish monitoring, observability, and performance practices using tools such as Instana, Datadog, Dynatrace, or Azure monitoring solutions.
- Able to think outside the box to design solutions for integrating the Majesco Platform using APIs, events, and webhooks.
- Drive modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD automation, containerization with Docker, and orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Create architecture documentation and system diagrams that guide engineering teams and platform evolution.
- Mentor engineers and architects through design reviews, code reviews, and technical leadership.
What You Bring
- 10 plus years of hands-on experience in Java engineering and software architecture.
- Proven success designing and delivering scalable enterprise or SaaS platforms.
- Strong experience building microservices architectures and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and container platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Deep understanding of system performance, concurrency, and high-throughput application design.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
- Strong knowledge of secure application design, including authentication, authorization, and secure communication.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to engineering teams and business leaders.
- Proven leadership in mentoring engineers and guiding architectural decisions across teams.

What Majesco Offers:
Majesco is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US.
