Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Oracle Core DBA to manage, administer, and optimize Oracle databases In this role, you will ensure high availability, security, and performance of Oracle database systems and applications. As part of the team, you will be responsible for managing the infrastructure supporting Oracle databases and applications, handling database migrations, patches, and upgrades, and ensuring system reliability and uptime. This is a remote position. Candidates must be a US Citizen and based in the US!.

How you will do it

  • Experience in leading, mentoring a team of Oracle core DBA and providing technical guidance, performance evaluations, and career development.

  • Administer and support Oracle Databases (11g, 12c, 19c), ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.

  • Design, implement, and manage high availability solutions for Oracle Databases and including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Active Data Guard.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, application errors, and connectivity problems.

  • Manage Oracle 12c/19c multi-tenant databases (PDB/ CDB) and container databases.

  • Ensure Oracle database and applications comply with security best practices, including user management, encryption, and audit trails.

  • Work closely with development teams to optimize application performance and integrate Oracle-based solutions.

  • Monitor and manage database and application performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools.

  • Provide support during major incidents, including on-call rotation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

  • Ensure proper database capacity planning and manage the performance, growth, and expansion of Oracle database environments.

What you will need
Required

  • 5+ years of experience as an Production Oracle DBA.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Extensive experience with Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c) administration, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

  • Experience in DB migrations from 12c/11g to 19c.

  • US citizenship. We are not able to sponsor for this position.

Preferred

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or higher certification.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud platforms for database and application hosting.

  • Familiarity with Oracle Goldengate for data replication and migration.

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in Oracle environments.

  • Knowledge of Oracle Exadata and Oracle Autonomous Database.
