Role Summary:
A challenging and fulfilling modern technology role that appeals to individuals with a passion for Core Network technologies.

Core Networking: Managing, building and troubleshooting internet backbone equipment, mainly based on Juniper, but also Cisco, Fortinet and other vendors. High competency with protocols like BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, etc. As a core engineer you will help manage and expand the AS3257 tier1 internet backbone
Job Scope/Supervision:
We are expanding our highly successful Core Engineering team. The team focuses on providing and maintaining a tier1 internet connected network. You will work in a team of highly skilled network engineers from around the globe.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the AS3257 core and relevant other networks
  • Support the engineering team to tackle problems and suggest solutions for difficult to solve problems
  • Work on constantly modernizing and securing internet-facing high speed networking equipment
  • Be proficient in working with Juniper and Cisco equipment
  • Have the ability to plan, coordinate and manage remote-hands to execute migrations, maintenances and troubleshooting.
  • Know your way around network protocols. Have the ability to move services between platforms regardless of vendor.
  • Have the ability to plan and work on longer term projects. There will be a lot of multi-week and month projects ongoing that will require diligence and planning from your side. Be self-sufficient where needed but recognize and not be afraid to ask for help when you get stuck

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in systems support in a 24x7 business-critical environment (Production).
  • Significant troubleshooting and performance tuning skills/experience
  • Be a self-motivated proactive individual who is equally comfortable working individually or as part of a wider team.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Deliver the appropriate balance between business need, technical perfection, and security standards.
  • Have a can-do attitude and demonstrate a passion for new technology and learning. Be adaptive to change in a dynamic working environment.
  • Experience with Juniper MX/PTX/EX/QFX
  • Cisco Routers, ASA
  • Basic programming/scripting skills. BASH/Python/etc. The ability to write scripts to help you in your dayjob and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Experience in working with internet connected networks (ASN's) and relevant routing protocols.

  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.
  • IP Network Engineering: Knowledge of the processes, tools, and techniques for IP network engineering; ability to utilize and manage IP applications for the construction, operations and support of IP-based networks and infrastructure.
  • Network Capacity Planning and Management: Knowledge of network capacity planning and management; ability to utilize the tools and practices for forecasting, planning, and managing the capacity needed to provide satisfactory levels of network services.
