The Senior Network Engineer provides technical leadership and advanced network engineering expertise for enterprise environments. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and modernization of secure, scalable network infrastructures supporting mission-critical operations.
You’ll lead network operations, drive modernization initiatives, and ensure performance, availability, and security across enterprise LAN/WAN, data center, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate has broad technical experience, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of success in large-scale network operations.
Location: This position is required to be onsite on a hybrid schedule, the work schedule is typically 4x10. You will be required to be onsite 75% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead network design, implementation, and lifecycle management activities
- Oversee daily network operations and ensure high availability
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to modernize enterprise networks
- Manage network infrastructure projects and communicate technical direction to stakeholders
- Develop documentation, metrics, and reports to ensure compliance and performance
- Ensure all network systems meet organizational security and compliance requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and provide Tier 3/4 network support
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field and 10+ years of experience in network engineering (or 14+ years without degree)
- Proven expertise in enterprise network architecture and operations
- Experience leading teams in 24x7 operational environments
- Strong knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or similar network platforms
- Hands-on experience with routing, switching, SD-WAN, VPN, and wireless technologies
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain DOE Q security clearance.
Preferred:
- Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, CISSP, Network+
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and network management tools (SolarWinds, ServiceNow, NetBrain)
- Familiarity with Zero Trust and network automation
