Position Summary

The Midstream OT Senior Network Engineer / Team Lead serves as the technical lead for the OT Communications team. This hybrid role combines deep technical expertise with Agile leadership to drive delivery through SAFe ceremonies and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will guide the team in translating high-level architectural designs into actionable low-level implementations that support secure, resilient, and scalable communications across field sites and control centers. Hands-on experience with modern practices such as Network as Code and CI/CD pipelines is preferred to enable automated, consistent, and efficient network deployments. A strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and critical infrastructure in industrial environments is highly preferred, as the role operates within safety-critical systems that demand reliability, compliance, and operational continuity.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploys complex network configurations for on-premise or cloud-based networks and assists in the development of playbooks for network systems. Assists in the integration of new systems and tools. Develops and maintains scripts to facilitate network administrative tasks and automate repetitive processes.
  • Sets the requirements and thresholds for monitoring systems for network devices. Participates in troubleshooting sessions for network-related issues at all layers of the OSI model.
  • Monitors performance, identifies areas for improvement for the network and implements performance tuning.
  • Identifies trends in issues and determines the root cause to reduce future issues.
  • Adheres to network policies, standards, and standard operating procedures for how-to documents.
  • Undertakes the regular analysis and interpretation of traffic and utilization of services on network connections.
  • Observes systems for network alerts and events so quick response can be provided and issues can be proactively
  • addressed.
  • Analyzes alternative hardware, platforms and technologies for the network infrastructure
  • Interprets high-level architectural designs and guides the team in developing detailed, actionable low-level designs for implementation.
  • Provides oversight and direction during solution development, ensuring deliverables meet performance, reliability, and security requirements for OT environments.
  • Holds team members accountable for technical quality, delivery timelines, and adherence to best practices, including documentation, testing, and change control.
  • Acts as a technical mentor for engineers, helping to unblock issues and elevate the team’s overall competency.
  • Owns and manages the team’s backlog, translating business needs into actionable technical work.
  • Leads the team’s participation in SAFe ceremonies, including PI Planning, Sprint Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the team and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity of vision and delivery expectations.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Proven experience configuring and supporting routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, in enterprise network environments.
  • Proven experience configuring and troubleshooting WAN and security protocols, such as IPSec; DMVPN experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SD-WAN and associated technologies.
  • Proven experience supporting wireless technologies, including cellular, satellite, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint broadband and narrowband radios, and microwave communication equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Netbox, Nautobot, and Itential is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and critical infrastructure in industrial environments is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices is preferred.
  • Experience managing a product backlog, writing user stories, and prioritizing work in alignment with business and technical goals is preferred.
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Network Administration – Organizing, installing, and supporting the organization's computer systems, including local area networks LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
  • Network Automation – Automating the configuration and management of network resources in LAN and WAN environments. This ensures consistency and scalability of the network.
  • Network Design – Provided network design, bandwidth allocation, IP address allocation, supervising installation, configuration and maintenance on major network technologies.
  • Network Engineering – The process of orchestrating network traffic and data flow across the enterprise ecosystem.
  • Network Installations – Configure network hardware and software components according to organizational guidelines and technical requirements. This includes the implementation and configuration of multiple servers, network devices and network management tools as well as the management of user network access to ensure stable and reliable network operations.
  • Network Management System – The use of network monitoring to determine, in real time, whether a network is running optimally, to optimize and improve the average percentage of time during which the network is performing its intended function.
  • Network Security Management – The process of providing complete visibility into the network and generating data for assets (asset groupings and classifications), firewalls, applications, ports, protocols, VPNs, NAT, and security policies and vendor devices.
  • Network Standards – Sets and establishes rules that determine how data is transmitted between different devices in the same network.
  • Requirements Management – The process of documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing and agreeing on requirements and then controlling change while also communicating to relevant stakeholders.
  • Results Driven – Drives operational and process excellence and innovative behavior by empowering others, collaborating, taking appropriate risk, making timely decisions and holding people accountable for results.
  • Strategic Outlook – Examines issues, generates ideas, creates future scenarios and develops plans with a long-term perspective. Ensures short-term goals support long-term strategy and that organizational/functional strategy aligns with and supports MPC’s overall business strategy.
  • Troubleshooting – The act or process of discovering and resolving problems, disputes, or mechanical issues through a systematic, usually iterative, approach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience. 5+ years of relevant experience
