Owns the design and development of validation frameworks, automation infrastructure, conformance checks, and simulated network environments for NetBrain platform resources. Builds tooling to verify drivers, parsers, runbooks, intents, and integrations across vendors and platform versions. Analyzes coverage, resolves complex customer issues, tracks quality metrics, and improves resource reliability, scalability, and release readiness. Requires strong Python framework engineering, networking knowledge, API and data parsing experience, CI/CD expertise, and end-to-end project ownership.

Founded in 2004, NetBrain is the leader in no-code network automation. Its ground-breaking Next-Gen platform provides IT operations teams with the ability to scale their hybrid multi-cloud connected networks by automating the processes associated with Diagnostic Troubleshooting, Outage Prevention and Protected Change Management.  Today, over 2,500 of the world’s largest enterprises and managed services providers leverage NetBrain’s platform.

About the Role

NetBrain’s platform is driven by a large and continuously growing library of platform resources — device drivers and API plugins, parsers, Runbooks, Network Intents, assessment and diagnosis logic, etc. These resources determine what the platform can see, understand, and automate across every customer network.

We are looking for a Senior Network Development Engineer to own the engineering behind the correctness, coverage, and reliability of these resources. This role will design and build the frameworks, tooling, and simulated network environments that validate platform resources at scale, define what “correct” means for each resource type, and make resource quality measurable and enforceable across every release. You will also develop and improve platform resources directly when gaps are found.

Candidates who combine strong Python engineering with an understanding of networking will be especially successful in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the validation framework and automation infrastructure used to verify platform resources — drivers, parsers, Runbooks, Intents, assessment logic, and integrations — across different vendors, technologies, and NetBrain platform versions.
  • Write code to build resource verification engines, conformance checks, diffing and baseline tooling, and the utilities the resource development teams use day to day
  • Build and operate simulated and virtualized network environments (emulated devices, captured device data, containerized topologies) that allow resources to be validated without physical hardware
  • Translate customer environments and real-world network scenarios into the coverage model those standards are measured against
  • Analyze resource coverage across the supported device and technology matrix, identify gaps, and drive or directly implement the resources needed to close them
  • Validate resource behavior across platform upgrades and version changes, including compatibility, scalability, and stability under production-scale data
  • Investigate complex resource-level issues reported by global enterprise customers, perform root cause analysis, and deliver the fix that prevents recurrence
  • Track and report resource quality metrics (coverage, accuracy, parsing success rate, release readiness) and use them to drive engineering decisions
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Development, and Support to improve resource architecture, authoring efficiency, and the overall resource lifecycle
  • Research emerging network technologies (SDN, SD-WAN, Public, etc) and AI-assisted techniques, apply them to expand resource coverage or improve validation efficiency
  • Occasionally support the team in resolving complex customer issues

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5–8 years of software development experience, including building automation frameworks or developer-facing tooling
  • Strong Python programming skills, with hands-on experience designing frameworks rather than only writing scripts (e.g., pytest, unittest, Robot Framework)
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with REST APIs, data parsing and transformation, and structured data formats (JSON, YAML, XML)
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and Git
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (OSI model, TCP/IP, routing and switching basics such as OSPF, BGP, VLAN, ARP) and familiarity with device CLI output and configuration
  • Ability to own a project end to end, from scoping and design through release
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English is required

Preferred

  • Deeper networking knowledge: MPLS, VXLAN, load balancing, network security, and L2–L4 packet forwarding behavior
  • CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification or hands-on network engineering experience
  • Experience with network device emulation or simulation tools (e.g., EVE-NG, GNS3, Cisco CML) or network automation libraries (e.g., Netmiko, NAPALM, Ansible)
  • Experience building parsers or normalizing multi-vendor device data
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), SDN, or SD-WAN
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or virtualized environments
  • Experience with web UI automation (e.g., Selenium) for resource-level verification
