Your Team and RoleWorking on the Design Team, you'll help define and elevate DuckDuckGo’s visual storytelling across marketing and product surfaces, using tools like After Effects, Adobe CC, and 3D platforms such as Cinema 4D or Blender, and work on related projects. Recent projects include:

In-product motion moments both big and small, such as micro-animations that draw attention to our Search engine AI tools and larger brand-differentiation moments like the flame animation when users "burn" their data in the app.
As a Senior Motion Designer you’ll lead marketing (TV ads, digital video etc.) and product design projects from brief through delivery, balancing creative craft with performance goals. You’ll partner with marketing, product, legal, and external vendors to ship impactful work, contribute to cross-functional creative testing, and help shape motion best practices. You’ll also help evolve our team’s templates and workflows to support efficiency at scale, as our first motion designer.
About You7+ years experience working in motion design, ideally in-house at a fast-paced consumer brand.
Ability to lead and collaborate on complex projects from proposal through post-mortem.
A knack for pushing creative limits while solving challenging design problems and delivering on delight, craft and exceptional quality.
Ability to communicate visual and motion recommendations with high-quality sketches, storyboards, and supporting rationale.
Hands-on visual design skills that demonstrates creativity across brand, marketing, and product design.
Proficiency across a wide range of design tools necessary to fulfill the role including Figma, After Effects, Adobe CC
Working knowledge of 3D illustration tools like Cinema 4D or Blender — strong 3D skills are preferred, but not required.
Demonstrable experience shipping motion creative across a variety of formats (TV, social, product) and tailoring content for each channel.
Deep understanding of how creative ties to growth and performance goals.
Bonus: Familiarity with integrating motion into video editing.
Compensation
$178,500 USD annually and stock options. Compensation is identical within professional levels, regardless of geographic location or team. Compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.

Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each around 4-5 days). While extenuating circumstances may impact attendance, everyone is strongly encouraged to attend.
While we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expect an average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
