Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
We operate at the cutting edge of embodied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.

JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer serves as the critical bridge between product design and mass production. You are responsible for the technical development, validation, and launch of robust manufacturing processes for new hardware products. Your mission is to ensure that "what is designed" can be "built at scale" by defining the equipment, tooling, and process parameters required to meet rigorous quality, cost, and throughput targets. You will champion DFx (Design for Excellence) during early-stage development and lead technical root-cause analysis for any assembly-line roadblocks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Process Development & Validation: Define and qualify technical manufacturing processes and ensure processes meet yield and throughput targets.
  • DFM/DFA & Risk Mitigation: Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) reviews with R&D. Utilize PFMEA or similar to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks before they reach the factory floor.
  • Tooling & Fixture Engineering: Design, procure, and validate custom assembly fixtures, jigs, and specialized production tooling. Ensure all tools meet tight-tolerance requirements and ergonomic standards.
  • NPI Transition: Lead the "technical hand-off" to production by troubleshooting pilot runs, resolving material issues, and qualifying/onboarding Tier-1 Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • Technical Approvals: Act as a key reviewer in the PLM change management workflow; approve ECOs/MCOs to ensure production readiness.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain a foundational understanding of ERP (Microsoft Business Central) to verify BOMs, routings, and work centers against physical processes.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Design: Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or Nx) for fixture design and assembly review.
  • Analytical Rigor: Command of SPC, DOE, and Root Cause Analysis (8D or 5-Whys).
  • Business Systems: Foundational knowledge of ERP and PLM workflows (Bonus for Microsoft BC ERP and Teamcenter PLM)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 8+ years in process development/NPI within high-volume or complex hardware environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
