At Scribd Inc. (pronounced “scribbed”), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our four products: Everand, Scribd, Slideshare, and Fable.
This posting reflects an approved, open position within the organization.
We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.
When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections. It’s through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees – in partnership with their manager – can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd Inc. employees, regardless of their location.
So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for “GRIT”. The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd Inc., we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to. Here’s what that means for you: we’re looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve Goals, achieve Results within their job responsibilities, contribute Innovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.
About the team and role:
Welcome to our small but mighty TPM (Technical Program Management) team! We are the driving force behind some of the most critical products, projects, and workflows within our company. With our strategic recommendations and execution prowess, we help shape the future of our product, which aims to transform the way the world reads.
As a Senior Manager, you will be at the heart of our company’s innovation and growth. In this player/coach role, you will lead the operational strategy and execution for our Premium product line, while managing and growing a small, high-impact team. You will also have the unique opportunity to scale your team as the company grows. Come join us!
About you:
You are a thoughtful opinionator: you have strong, well-reasoned opinions and are not afraid to respectfully voice them to stakeholders at all levels. You are a proactive communicator who doesn’t wait for issues to arise before finding solutions.
You are a relationship builder and organizational navigator who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys forging connections with people across different teams and functions. You are a dedicated mentor who finds professional fulfillment in the growth and success of your team members.
You are a continuous learner, with a growth mindset and thirst for expanding your skill set with new challenges. Lastly, you are a voracious reader with a passion for books and the written (and spoken) word in all its forms!
You will:

You will dive deep into the "how" and "why" of our projects, developing comprehensive plans that align with our overarching goals. Your strategic thinking will guide our decision-making process and ensure we stay on the right track.
Lead and Coach: You will act as a player/coach, directly managing and mentoring a small, high-impact team. You will be responsible for their career development, performance, and day-to-day guidance, ensuring their work aligns with company-wide goals.
Own the complexity: Drive multiple complex cross-functional programs simultaneously and create scalable frameworks across orgs and functions to track work and communicate on progress.
Manage timelines: Lead the timeline for delivery for key programs. Proactively identify risks within programs and create mitigation strategies via workflows, communication, or resource allocation.
Measure Success: Proactively propose success metrics for yourself, your team, and your programs when relevant and identify when these success metrics are at risk.
