About This Role:

The Platform Services team builds software and systems to support the ongoing development/maintenance of 220+ microservices and microfrontends being built and updated across the organization.  The team’s daily operations include building libraries, debugging live service issues, helping with infrastructure buildouts, working on CI/CD patterns, building testing frameworks, setting build quality standards, and more.  The team also regularly prototypes and rolls out new tooling, all in the name of finding the most efficient systems to automate, allowing feature teams to build new functionality with increasing efficiency.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing relationships across all of engineering and some of product/design to understand what the future roadmap for the entire org is and distill that down into actionable workstreams for the team to build new systems ahead of when they’re needed by engineering
  • Growing your team, their careers, and tracking their performance through 1-on-1s and bi-annual reviews.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies that improve performance, maintainability and robustness of our backend software.
  • Contribute in code reviews, design discussions, and co-develop features and solutions that scale.
  • Use best software development practices and adopt patterns of the team and organization to develop consistent and maintainable code, then push new patterns to the company to continue to improve our effectiveness
  • Contribute to a team culture that values openness, inclusiveness, quality, robustness, and scalability while fostering innovation.
  • Demonstrated use of Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis/Elasticache, GraphQL, Datadog, Kubernetes, and Terraform, bringing a depth of knowledge and experience to deliver high quality results.
  • Working with senior management to strategize resource allocation.
  • Prioritize, delegate, and juggle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Incorporate feedback from your team and managers to continuously improve your team’s execution and ability to achieve your team’s goals.
