As a Senior Manager of Platform Operations, you will lead a team of high-performing engineers responsible for ensuring the performance and availability of Fullsteam’s critical payment gateway platform. Your role will involve collaborating closely with teams in Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, and feature development to drive innovation, implement operational best practices, and ensure security and compliance. You will be responsible for the operational excellence of the platform, implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, and ensuring ongoing support availability 24/7.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of engineers, both Full-Time Employees (FTEs) and contractors.
  • SRE Advocacy: Drive and promote Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices across development, platform, and product teams.
  • On-Call Rotation: Manage a 24/7 on-call rotation for the payment gateway, ensuring swift resolution of any incident.
  • Process Quality: Establish and manage well-defined processes, metrics, and goals for process quality. Lead postmortem reviews and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Incident Management: Perform log reviews, identify anomalies, and assign tickets to close feedback loops for escaped defects.
  • Deployment Management: Oversee deployments, ensuring that builds are tested before their deployments.
  • Audit Support: Assist with audits as required.
  • Team Development: Responsible for the training, performance management, and career development of an engineering team.
  • Industry Trends: Ensure the team stays up to date on industry best practices and developments in DevOps, InfoSec and SRE.
  • Team Advocacy: Support and advocate for your team, promoting successes and learning from challenges.

Skills & Competencies

  • Leadership: Excellent performance management skills, including coaching, training, and developing employees.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong experience with Azure and competencies in DevOps and security, ensuring your team remains up to date on the latest tools and practices.
  • Engineering Management: Deep understanding of engineering management, including the ability to successfully manage remote teams across multiple time zones.
  • Cloud & Automation: Proven ability to lead technical teams in cloud environments (especially Azure) and implement automation strategies.
  • Policy Implementation: Experience in implementing IT policies and procedures to maintain operational efficiency and security.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficient in writing, maintaining and reviewing infrastructure as code.
  • Application Performance Monitoring: Competent in implementing application performance monitoring tools and practices.

Experience:

  • 5+ of experience with PowerShell.
  • 5+ of experience with SQL.
  • 7+ years of experience with application performance monitoring tools.
  • 5+ of experience with KQL.
  • 7+ years of experience with Azure.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.

Skills:

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with automation and cloud technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Azure Solutions Architect certification.
  • 5+ years in a similar management role.
  • Active GitHub profile with consistent contributions.
  • Experience managing Agile projects and distributed teams.
