What will you be doing?

This role will support the oversight of international accounting across multiple legal entities, with a focus on strengthening statutory reporting, managing third-party accounting providers, and transitioning activities into a centralized or shared services model aligned with U.S. GAAP and Circana’s global accounting policies.

This role is responsible for the accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across jurisdictions, partnering closely with global finance, tax, legal, treasury, commercial finance teams and local accounting firms. The ideal candidate requires a strong operator who brings deep regional expertise, strong leadership and can manage complexity across countries while driving process standardization, SOX controls and modern accounting processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for international entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and Circana accounting policies.
  • Manage statutory reporting and local compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including coordination of financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
  • Partner with third-party accounting firms and advisors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of local accounting and compliance obligations.
  • Lead the transition of accounting activities from local accounting firms to internal teams, establishing clear ownership, documentation, and controls.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and financial statements.
  • Drive consistency and standardization across countries, ensuring alignment with Circana’s global finance framework.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements across key international entities.
  • Coordinate with local accounting firms to prepare and file statutory financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure strong internal controls and support global SOX compliance and audit requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on Circana’s operations and reporting.
  • Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other teams to support business initiatives, entity structuring, and cross‑border transactions.
  • Support transfer pricing, intercompany settlements, and global finance strategy initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor accountants and external service providers across multiple countries.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational discipline on the team.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, automate workflows, and improve reporting quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  •  6–10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience managing multi-entity and multi-country accounting and reporting
  • Experience coordinating and working with third-party accounting firms
  • Management experience preferred, not required; open to candidates who demonstrate strong ownership and leadership potential 
  • Proven ability or demonstrated interest in building, improving, or transitioning accounting processes (including shared services or in-house models)

Preferred

  • CPA
  • Experience in a multinational, data‑driven, or technology‑enabled organization.
  • Experience in SOX environments and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience using NetSuite, Dynamics, Coupa and BlackLine

Location: This position can be located in the following area(s): Chicago, IL, preferred or Remote, US. 

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 USD. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
