As the Senior Manager of Commercial Solutions, Finance, you will be responsible for supporting a complex set of commercial, contracting, and financial items and deliverables for all end-to-end customer relationships with R1, in addition to new customer support.  Daily, the Senior Manager of Commercial Solutions will support and report to the Vice President of Commercial Finance with the primary responsibility to execute on commercial items and assist in building out a new vision within the Commercial Solutions team. As the Senior Manager of Commercial Solutions, you will work with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, senior executive leadership, and R1’s global team. To be successful in this role, you must exhibit strong oral and written communication skills, leadership, professionalism, and customer-facing skills. As the Senior Manager of Commercial Solutions and leader, you will be expected to foster and own key relationships to support various financial and contractual activities, modeling, and tracking.

To thrive in this role, you must have strong analytical/modeling, planning, and project management skills and exhibit good business judgment. This role presents a unique opportunity to influence financial and commercial strategy and contribute to the financial health of the entire organization.

This position is fully remote. You must be willing to travel infrequently, but if requested from time to time.

Here’s what you will experience working as the Senior Manager of Commercial Solutions, Finance:

  • Quickly develop a strong understanding of R1's business model to drive financial accountability with operational teams and ensure teams are maximizing financial performance
  • Create models to assess the financial and operational impact of contractual updates and commercial discussions agreements on customer and R1 financial results – You may need to work on specific, unique projects that might call for complex financial modeling or project management skills
  • Develop analysis and deliver succinct presentations to leadership and customers – Act as key liaison to align on deadlines, information requests, reports, and analysis required to ensure deliverables are submitted timely, with the required quality and analysis
  • Assess opportunities to improve value creation for R1 and its customers and for R1; Identify financial risks and develop corresponding mitigation strategies
  • Report and track various financial, contracting, and commercial items – Must ensure a robust planning system to meet department requirements and recommend improvements to existing processes to ensure efficient and timely results
  • Streamline current database modeling, reporting, and update processes to assist in scaling for future growth and broaden support coverage
  • Train, manage, and collaborate with the R1 global team through completion of recurring processes and new initiatives to drive scalability and increased support coverage; produce related monthly/weekly reports for internal and customer use
  • Maintain communication and collaborate with Controllership, Billing, Treasury, Legal/Legal Operations, Compliance, Procurement, FP&A, Operations, and executive teams to set and align expectations
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the team

Required qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role (consulting background or healthcare experience is a plus), 5-7 years of prior experience in a similar role is typical
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or relevant experience in a finance role - Knowledge and ability working with contracting is a plus
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability and desire to learn; is highly detail-oriented with strong personal accountability
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams at the same time and be a self-starter who can quickly and independently assess business requirements and become a trusted and integral part of the team
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication (written and verbal), presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills
  • Strong project management skills, working cross functionally across the organization and drive to work independently, remain organized and execute on tasks effectively – Being able to deploy the appropriate approach in a timely manner is critical
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills, including prior experience with financial modeling and creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations
  • Ability to assess current processes and recommend solutions for improvement, transition to offshore ownership, and automation – The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in AI advancements and a desire to evolve current processes into intelligent automation supported or fully automated solutions
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities across all organizational levels – Will present work both internally and externally
  • In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles and best practices
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a moderate degree of autonomy
  • Must be willing to travel infrequently (roughly 5-10%), if requested from time to time.
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $117,500.00 - $173,605.10 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 10.00%
