Job Summary

IGS is building a dedicated capital markets discipline to support the rapid growth of our solar and storage business. This role will help design and execute the financing strategy that fuels our project pipeline and build the relationships and infrastructure that help IGS deploy capital across distributed energy assets.

The right candidate is a seasoned project finance professional who knows the institutional investor and lender community by name, has structured complex tax-advantaged transactions, and is energized by the prospect of building on and expanding the foundation of our capital markets practice. You will partner closely with solar finance, development, legal, tax, accounting, and asset management to translate pipeline into closed financings.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and Maintain the Investor Pipeline

  • Cultivate and grow a rolodex of traditional equity investors, tax equity investors, transfer buyers, project lenders, infrastructure funds, and other capital providers active in the solar and storage market.

  • Run a disciplined origination process: pipeline tracking, regular touchpoints, market intelligence on pricing and terms, and proactive outreach for new program launches.

  • Position IGS as a high-quality, repeat counterparty by setting expectations, delivering on commitments, and maintaining transparent communication through close and beyond.

  • Design the playbook: standardize diligence packages, term sheet templates, and internal approval memos

  • Serve as IGS’s internal expert of capital markets trends, IRA/OBBBA implications, and evolving market structures across tax equity, transferability, and project debt.

Originate, Structure, and Execute

  • Lead sourcing and support execution of project- and portfolio-level financings for solar and storage assets, including partnership flips, preferred equity investments, tax credit transfers, and project- and portfolio-level debt

  • Provide guidance on deal structuring decisions, including evaluating trade-offs between flip vs. transfer vs. hybrid structures, sizing tax equity and back-leverage, and optimizing sponsor economics across the capital stack.

  • Negotiate term sheets and help define definitive documentation (MIPAs, LLC agreements, credit agreements, transfer agreements) alongside internal and external counsel and business partners.

  • Work alongside solar finance to build, audit, and stress-test Excel-based models covering tax equity waterfalls, DRO mechanics, capital account tracking, back-leverage sizing, and sponsor IRR sensitivities.

  • Manage diligence end-to-end, coordinating responses across development, engineering, legal, and tax teams to keep transactions on schedule.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Translate between solar finance, development, legal, tax, accounting, and executive leadership to drive deal decisions and surface risks early.

  • Brief executives and the board on financing strategy, market conditions, transaction status, and pipeline economics.

  • Represent IGS externally at industry conferences, with capital partners, and in trade groups.

Required Experience

  • ~10 years of capital markets, project finance, structured finance, or investment banking experience, with a clear focus on renewable energy.

  • Demonstrated track record structuring and closing complex solar (and ideally storage) financings, including:

  • Partnership flips (yield-based and fixed-flip; familiarity with DRO mechanics, capital account dynamics, and IRS safe harbor considerations)

  • Preferred equity investments

  • Tax credit transfer transactions (ITC, PTC, and §6418 mechanics)

  • Project- and portfolio-level debt, including construction, tax equity bridge, term, and back-leverage facilities

  • An established, active network of tax equity investors, transfer buyers, lenders, and infrastructure capital providers.

  • Deep fluency in post-IRA and OBBBA tax credit rules, including transferability, domestic content, energy community and low-and-moderate income adders, and Foreign Entity of Concern compliance and how each affects deal pricing and bankability.

  • Hands-on project finance modeling skills. You can build a model from scratch and you can find the bug in someone else's.

  • Experience negotiating term sheets that set the stage for definitive financing documentation.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to residential solar, commercial & industrial (C&I) solar, community solar, and/or distributed-scale assets — the segments most relevant to IGS's strategy.

  • Battery storage financing experience, including standalone storage ITC structures.

  • Prior experience building or scaling a capital markets function, rather than inheriting an established platform.

  • Familiarity with HLBV accounting, GAAP treatment of tax equity, and how financing structures interact with corporate financial reporting.

How You Work

  • You are a builder. You are energized by ambiguity and want to define the playbook, not follow one.

  • You communicate clearly across audiences — capital partners, executives, lawyers, developers, and accountants — and adjust register without losing precision.

  • You are organized and process-minded. You can run multiple concurrent deals and keep diligence on rails without drama.

  • You are commercially intuitive but rigorous. You know when a deal needs to move and when it needs to slow down.

  • You operate with high integrity. The capital markets community is small, and your reputation precedes you in the right way.

The Details

  • Location: Fully remote (U.S.). Periodic travel to IGS HQ in Dublin, OH, capital partners, and industry events.

  • Travel: Approximately 20–30%.
