Your Opportunity as the Senior Manager, CAPEX Procurement

The Senior Manager, CAPEX Procurement leads the enterprise sourcing strategy, supplier management, and commercial execution for capital projects across all business units. This role serves as the primary procurement partner to Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams, ensuring capital investments are competitively sourced, contractually protected, delivered on budget, and aligned with enterprise procurement policies.

The role is accountable for developing and executing procurement strategies supporting facility expansions, manufacturing modernization, infrastructure improvements, packaging investments, utilities, automation, material handling systems, and other strategic capital initiatives. The position leads capital procurement professionals and manages relationships with key engineering, construction, OEM, EPC, and EPCM suppliers.

Location and Work Arrangements: Working Remote

In this role you will:

Capital Procurement Strategy

  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide CAPEX sourcing strategies supporting annual capital investment plans.

  • Partner with Engineering to build and maintain an enterprise-wide capital project portfolio that improves visibility, prioritization, and sourcing readiness.

  • Establish category management strategies such as engineering services, construction, manufacturing equipment, automation, and facility infrastructure.

  • Drive competitive sourcing events to maximize value, reduce risk, and improve project outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage preferred suppliers, standard equipment platforms, and enterprise purchasing agreements.

Project Procurement Leadership

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations during project development to establish procurement plans, sourcing timelines, and commercial strategies.

  • Lead sourcing activities for large-scale capital projects from project conception through project closeout.

  • Support business cases through market intelligence, budgeting support, should-cost analysis, and supplier benchmarking.

  • Oversee supplier selection, negotiation strategies, contract execution, and change order governance.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Develop strategic relationships with EPC, EPCM, OEM, and construction suppliers.

  • Negotiate commercial terms, payment structures, service agreements, warranties, performance guarantees, and risk allocation provisions.

  • Work closely with Legal and Risk Management during contract negotiations.

  • Lead dispute resolution and contract optimization efforts for strategic suppliers.

Financial & Risk Management

  • Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance, and cash flow improvements across the project portfolio.

  • Support project teams in mitigating commercial, schedule, and budget risks.

  • Establish governance processes for bid evaluations, award recommendations, and change-order approvals.

  • Drive working capital improvements through payment term optimization and milestone-based contracting.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and develop a team of capital procurement professionals.

  • Build enterprise procurement capabilities, templates, negotiation standards, and sourcing best practices.

  • Provide coaching and technical procurement guidance to project teams and primary procurement contact.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and commercial excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the procurement representative on capital steering committees and project governance teams.

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Plant Leadership, Operations, Finance, Legal, Environmental Health & Safety, and Strategic Category Management teams.

  • Ensure alignment between capital projects and broader enterprise procurement strategies.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field.

  • 10+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, engineering, construction, or capital project experience.

  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience.

  • Experience sourcing and negotiating engineering services, EPC/EPCM contracts, construction services, processing equipment, packaging equipment, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

  • Proven track record leading complex negotiations and managing multimillion-dollar projects.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills including highly effective horizontal internal and external relationships.

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and senior leadership to communicate sourcing strategies and influence decision-making particularly in a multi-plant operations structure.

  • Ability to travel approximately 30% as business needs require
